What customers say
This is a well-maintained, friendly, and peaceful campsite with spacious pitches and excellent, clean toilet and shower facilities. Guests appreciate the on-site park, fishing lake, and the opportunity to see farm animals. Some minor issues include hot showers and vending machines only accepting cash, though these do not detract from the overall positive experience.

Liked Facilities appeared modern
Disliked Facilities were quite tired and by the time of the evening that we arrived they were quite grubby. There was also a drone being flown by one of the other campers which was just irritating due to the noise. The kids play area has definitely seen better days, there was rubbish strewn around everywhere. Kids were still out playing on the equipment long past dark and aside from the noise, the safety aspect of this doesn’t seem to be considered. We were also notified at around 6pm on our day of arrival that there was a live music event in the adjacent field. This went on till around 10.30 and was very disruptive to our daughter being able to sleep. I know the site has a lot of good reviews but our personal experience was it was more, rough and ready. The toilets had been cleaned by the time we used them in the morning so this was good to see.

Liked Stayed on Ainsworth Park, lovely views and quieter than main area. The toilets and showers are possibly the best we have come across. We are definitely going back.

Very noisy!
Non-electric grass pitch
Liked Facilities were very clean and modern. We loved the little farm a few minutes drive down the road with milkshake and ice cream vending machines
Disliked We chose to stay here as it was specifically described as a quiet site and we were coming with 2 very young children. It was anything but quiet.
Unfortunately on the first night when we were putting our tent up (in the pitch we had been shown when we checked in) a car pulled up halfway through and said you can't put your tent there, she lets all the caravan owners park their cars there! We therefore had to take the pegs out that were already in place and move it further away!
The same group had music on (as others did) until late at night, grouped together from several caravans so there was around 20 people. Teenagers screaming and using the park until 10/11 at night. I didn't see anyone from the campsite patrolling to ensure rules were observed at any point.
The play area is broken in several places (missing monkey bars and swing) and really in need of a refresh.
On the second night, we received a text at 6.30 to say the campsite next door were having live music between 7 and 10pm. This was so loud, it was immediately next door and it was honestly like being at a festival!
This continued the second night and woke me up still ongoing at 1am. It stopped shortly after.
Just not good enough. If I had the energy, if have argued for a refund, because it was absolutely not what was described as a quiet site!!

Large Electric Grass Pitch electric grass touring pitch
Liked Lovely, clean campsite with modern facilities. My son really enjoyed the fishing lakes, and it was the perfect place to stay while attending the Great Eccleston Tractor Pull Weekend- our second year in a row.
The staff were also incredibly helpful and went the extra mile by printing off a returns label for me to get a parcel sent off. Great service and a lovely stay!

Not for adults only - more for families.
Ainsworth Park electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (adults only)
Liked Positives are the clean toilets and showers. Also if you have children looks to be good play area and fishing is popular. Reception - Pleasant and helpful at check in.
Disliked Advertised an adult only site and a quiet site. It is neither. The adult only pitches are only a few metres and 2 hedges from the play area and noise from there carried over up to and past 10pm. Children on scooters and bikes were in the adult only area after 10pm. It is not quiet - advertised as no music and a sssshhh site. That didnt apply to the loud music in the toilets, ice cream van which arrived or the at one point constant flow of vans to the lower end of adults only area which we eventually assumed must be staff or workers.
We kept our dog on lead as site asked, many others didnt and no one on site to ask or refer to. We also missed a dog walking area as walks from site limited and to get out even walking need to raise the barrier. No wifi.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet your expectations.
We would, however, like to clarify that Poplar Grove Farm Caravan Park is not advertised as an entirely adults-only site. We are a family-friendly park with a separate adults-only area, which is clearly stated when booking. We do ask all guests to respect our quiet-site rules, particularly during the evening, and we’re disappointed to hear that you experienced disturbance after 10pm.
Children should not be using the adults-only area to play or ride bikes and scooters, and this is something we will continue to reinforce with guests. Likewise, dogs are required to be kept on leads around the park, and we appreciate you following this rule.
With regard to vehicle movements, as a working farm and caravan park there can occasionally be necessary staff and operational vehicle movements around the site. However, we do our best to keep disruption to guests to a minimum.
We appreciate your comments regarding the toilet music,(this is on for on obvious reasons)
We’re disappointed that these issues affected your stay, particularly as we would have welcomed the opportunity to address any concerns while you were here. Thank you again for your feedback.
