  • Working farm site in rural Lancashire, with 63 acres and lovely views
  • A 10-minute drive to Blackburn; 40 minutes to Blackpool
  • Friendly atmosphere with play area and easy access to main roads
With 63 acres of farmland to its name and gorgeous views in all directions, Brocklehead Farm is an enticing prospect for people looking for a peaceful and scenic rural Lancashire spot that’s also handy for the amenities of everyday life. Settle in at this working farm and you’ll have views out towards the hills and mountains of the Lake District, Yorkshire and North Wales – on a clear day you’ll even be able to spot Blackpool in the distance. It’s got all the hallmarks of a classic countryside destination (including wildlife and farm animals) so it might be difficult to believe that Darwen’s only five minutes’ drive away and Blackburn about 10 minutes away. That location comes in handy not only for putting things like pubs, restaurants and shops within easy reach, but also for straightforward access to the local main roads for days out around town and country. You can get to Manchester or Liverpool with a drive of less than an hour from here, head to Blackpool for a day at the beach, or set your sights on exploring the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales (or a bit of all of the above…) Meanwhile, a friendly community atmosphere reigns back at the farm – the owners live on site and are on hand to make sure everything is as it should be for enjoyable holidays. That setup includes providing a play area, easy parking places and a large shower block that’s got individual cubicles with a shower, basin and toilet. Dogs are welcome too, so you can bring your furry family member along on your break.

Local attractions

Fancy stretching your legs? The Turton and Entwistle Reservoir (10 minutes’ drive) is probably the closest place for a walk in the woods, or you could head a little further afield for the many trails of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (35 minutes) or venture into the Yorkshire Dales from Skipton (45 minutes). Sticking to the outdoor attractions, you could also meet the animals at Smithills Open Farm or the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary, admire the Singing Ringing Tree art installation or stroll around the Victorian gardens of Astley Hall (all about 20 minutes away). And of course there’s always the option of some sandy time at Blackpool beach (40 minutes)… For a bit of urban scenery, take a trip to Blackburn (10 minutes) for the museum, cathedral and ice arena, or set off for Manchester (45 minutes) and the Imperial War Museum North, National Football Museum and plenty of places to eat, drink and make merry.
