  • Wild-style camping on a working organic farm in Lancashire
  • Two miles from Gisburn; Skipton 20 minutes' drive
  • Farm shop; pitch near the farm or in a remote location
If you think that staying with locals is always a great way of getting to know a place, check out Lower Gazegill Farm, a friendly, wild-style campsite that's been owned and run by the same family for nearly 500 years. The green and grassy pitches on offer here are part of the Robinson family farm, which today specialises in producing the finest organic dairy and meat. Hundreds of top-quality foods are available from the on-site farm shop, with everything from barbecue kits to deli products and excellent organic wines. Another plus of staying here is that there's a selection of different pitch locations available – you can stay nearer to the toilet and shower facilities (with disabled access) on the main part of the farm, or you could site yourself further away amid the green trees and fields. (Wherever you go, the mains water tap is in the parking area at some distance from the pitches, so you might want to bring a water carrier with you.) Campfires are allowed at Lower Gazegill Farm in the designated firepits, and barbecues are welcome (logs and charcoal are available to buy on site). Handily, the site is also just under two miles from the village of Gisburn, where you'll have access to a pub, café, restaurant and filling station.

Front Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Evrything! We were the only campers so had the whole meadow to ourselves. The farm is lovely and as clean as a farm xan be. The staff were friendly. There were fire pits available. Two unisex toilets and a shower and a kitchen area for drinking water and pot cleaning. The farm has lots of animals and some amazing friendly dogs. We enjoyed our couple of nights stay its was quiet and relaxing just what we wanted. It was only a 20min drive to skipyon where we enjoyed a day out.

Front Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Front Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Everything :) Pitches are spacious and I loved how the dogs, goats and piglets came onto the meadow and had a play/nosy at us. The farm staff are extremely friendly and are happy to talk about the animals. My son was over the moon when he was allowed to feed the pigs and watched the cows milking. The site itself has amazing views. Clean toilet and a clean shower. It is very much a "back to basic" site, but that is exactly what we wanted. A beautiful sun rise/set, tons of stars in an unpolluted sky and gently falling to sleep with the sound of nature and all that she brings. We really enjoyed our stay. All the animals were looked after and cared for well. Even though there was 4 dogs, 3(?) goats and several piglets running free, we never saw any poop- which was surprising. The farm is so clean and safe. My 10 year old loved having the freedom to roam and visit the pens and I loved knowing he was safe doing this. Although the dogs are working dogs they liked coming to play with the kids on an evening (run off with the football) and chase them around. The dogs are really friendly, the goats tended to stay out of the way but were often spotted climbing trees for apples except the big grey one who would come up to you and want a neck scratch and the piglets were very curious but kept their distance, just coming close enough to the tents to excite the kids. All in all we had the most amazing, quiet and peaceful time. We will 100% be back.

Front Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A superb small field location in hills with full sun until late in the day. Beautiful sunsets. An Unspoilt simple site for those wanting a more wild camping experience. Goats, pigs and cows can be seen around you and cute piglets running around. Fruit trees nearby. A fantastically stocked organic farm shop selling nitrite free bacon and gammon.

Disliked: Maybe a drinking water tap in the field would be useful although drinking water is available in the toilet/kitchen block.

Front Meadow non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We arrived on site for a spontaneous 1 night camping trip. We got there around tea time, which was very easy too find. Picked a spot, with a fire pit provided which was lovely and less packing for ourselves. We set up and went for a walk around to see all the animals including the 3 amazing farm dogs who joined us for a little of our walk. The toilets and shower where very good and clean. There was a cute little farm shop didnt make much use as it was closed when we arrived. We phoned the farmer who was happy to help bring some wood and also offered to open the shop if we needed anything extra he was very friendly.

Liked: Lovely setting in a quiet part of the countryside. Lovely atmosphere with a great farm shop, full of great produce. Lovely to be in the farm and have animals running around the campsite.

Disliked: More signage regarding the pitches, toilets and showers. Also a drinking water tap close to the pitches would be useful.
