What customers say
This site is praised for its spectacular views of Ullswater and its friendly, accommodating owner, Sophie. Guests appreciate the spacious pitches and the 'wild camping' feel. The location is ideal for exploring the area, with a pub a short walk away. Basic portable toilet facilities are provided. While some experienced issues with mud and noise, most found it to be a great value, back-to-basics camping experience.

Worth the price, lovely campsite owner
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked This campsite was just amazing, Sophie gave clear instruction and answered our phone calls even though she is a busy farmer ontop of campsite supervisor.
The views are just breathtaking from any pitch in the site. You are free to arrive anytime suitable, and leave with no rush at anytime. You can pick your own pitch and the noise was at a minimum for a campsite. The portaloo was clean and stocked up with loo roll and flushable.
Sophie comes around often through the day and evening to check everything is safe and sound and is really down to earth lass.

Beautiful spot overall
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Beautiful views across the lake from a great vantage poin, staff were friendly. Plenty of room to choose a spot.
Disliked The toilets were pretty poor and by the morning weren’t pleasant at all.
Fair bit of noise until around 11.30pm, appreciate it’s hard for staff to control but it was really quite loud. Clearly a few bigger groups despite booking terms suggesting families only.

Liked Big space
Disliked No showers, been said that 10min away drive is possible to take a shower. We have tried next day and reception told us that they are fully booked and it’s not allowed to take shower by guests who hasn’t got booking.
