  • Spacious, friendly site on the Cumbrian coast
  • Fell walks, Lakes Coniston and Windermere within 45 minutes' drive
  • A few minutes from pubs, chip shop, dog-friendly beach and watersports
How’s this for having your cake and eating it? Harbour Lights Campsite is a couple of minutes’ walk from Haverigg beach on the Cumbrian coast – and behind it, with trails beginning 15 minutes' drive away, the famed hills and fells of the Lake District (not to mention those lakes themselves). No more tough choices, have the lot here. If you have any problems on this Cumbrian cracker of a site, it’ll be deciding what to do first. You could start by taking in the view: sunsets over the beach and sea with the hills looming in the background; on this friendly, well-kept but unfussy site there’s little to get in between you and the grand surroundings. Don’t fancy missing a minute in the open air? No problem, barbecues and firepits are all to hand. Dogs are welcome on site, on the beach next door and in many of the nearby pubs. On that note, there are places to sip and sup in Haverigg, and more of the same plus supermarkets in Millom, both about five minutes' drive away.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Great shower and toilet block, staff really friendly camp good icecream parlour on site with home made icecream some good low level walks around the nature reserve weather was ok at time of visit only one night of high winds

Disliked: Road system in camp site a bit rough and was prone to getting water logged in some parts more work on the drainage system would benefit the whole site.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: It is what it says on the can, people who have given negative reviews in terms of location etc didn't take the time to read the information. Beautiful ❤️ place. Showers exceptionally clean and warm. Friendly helpful staff. Ten minutes walk into Haverigg and thirty minutes walk to Million. Fabulous chip shop in Haverigg and lovely pub. Site is clean and quiet. Only downfall in my opinion is no recycling facilities. Great walks on beach ⛱️ and around nature 🍄‍🟫 reserve. Fabulous on the premises made ice 🍨 cream 🍦. Will definitely be back!

Disliked: Negative reviews who didn't take time to read about the place prior to their visit!!!

Liked: The site is really well cared for and clean, you are five minutes walk to the beach and about ten miutes to Haverigg centre. There is a lovely cafe on site selling home made ice cream. The toilets and showers are very well cared for, the latter having heating in the room. A five minute walk from the site is a small bar called the SKI Bar serving food and drink. All in all a great place to stay.

Liked: What a gem of a place this is. It’s totally unspoiled. With 2 min walk to the beach. 5 mins walk to the ski bar and restaurant which serves very nice food there’s also an aqua park there too. If you’re wanting a site with slot machines and family bars this isn’t for you. If you’re wanting peace and tranquility to unwind you will find it here with nice views and walks. The town of Millom is a 15 min walk . There you find little shops an Indian restaurant Beggars theatre and a Tesco for your supplies. The site has immaculately clean showers and toilets. Reception is a cute log cabin building as you enter the site and the ladies in reception could not of been more helpful. Next door there is ice cream is made on site which was delicious. . We be back for sure we loved the peace and quiet just what we needed to unwind and re charge .

Local attractions

Haverigg’s wide sandy beach is fab for walks, castle building and kite-based antics, from flying them to being hauled along the sands in buggies at high speed. If you’re after activities on the water, Port Haverigg Wakepark five minutes’ drive away has something wet and wild for everyone. Without straying too far, you can also go horse trekking through the countryside and galloping on the beach from Murthwaite Green trekking centre, or get your kicks with wheels and mud included at Haverigg Motocross Track (both 10 minutes). For walks with wildlife, it’s five minutes to RSPB Hodbarrow, where hosts of rare birds and plants thrive in the distinctive wetland environment. If you want to get higher, Black Combe is officially England’s biggest hill, 30 feet short of being a mountain and accessible by trails starting about 15 minutes' drive away in Wicham. Walks up the famed Old Man and surrounding fells start in Coniston, 40 minutes away. For lakes, well, take your pick… Windermere is 45 minutes away, for boat cruises, steamer trips and watersports as well as lakeside walks and cycling. Families make for Muncaster Castle (half an hour), on account of its Harry Potter-like appearance, resident ghost, adventure trails and playground and its Hawk and Owl centre with regular feeding and flying shows. For even wilder wildlife, the South Lakes Safari Zoo is 40 minutes away or you can Go Ape yourselves at Grizedale, zipping through the forest treetops on wires and ropeways (50 minutes).
