Electric grass pitch

Liked: The showers, toilets and facilities were spot on. The part of the camp we stayed at was very well looked after, the grass and surrounding area was very well maintained and we stayed on a big square type pitch with a large tree in the middle with plenty of room for the kids to play. Easy hook up to electrics also.

Disliked: My only issue was when erecting our tent we came to realise that there was only around 2 inches thick of grass for our pegs to stick in then we were met with a slab of concrete under which not even my heavy duty tent pegs could go through. This was extremely annoying as all the pegs were literally pushed into the ground horizontally and slipped out very easily. I can't say the same for the rest of the pitches but ours was impossible to keep the tent and guy ropes secure.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Everything was clean and tidy (most of the time) staff all friendly and can't do enough for you nice and quiet Monday to Thursday (don't know what it would be like in half term)

Disliked: The massive group of people in the caravan playing Lound music constantly which we don't mind to an extent but when it's the same over and over aging then the toilets got dirty and could have done with an extra cleaner on the weekend

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful grounds, friendly staff and super clean toilet/shower blocks

Disliked: Pitches a bit muddy but that's not the sites fault. We had to drive around for a while to try and get less muddy one

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff, immaculate and modern toilet/shower facilities, big park with lota of greenery, close to seaside, swimming pool didn’t need to be booked as low season, shop on site, arcade and entertainment for kids.

Disliked: Not a dislike but would be good if had mixture of hard standing and grass pitches.

Local attractions

On the English side of the Firth, Solway guests can reach the north-western lakes of the Lake District National Park, day trips to Carlisle and the hills and stargazing of Northumberland National Park. On the Scottish side, you could hike the Galloway Hills, run away to Gretna or drive further afield to urban days out at Edinburgh or Glasgow. (To see it all at once, take a trip to championship Solway Golf Course where you can tee around to views of the Lakeland Fells, Galloway Hills and across to the Isle of Man.) Moseying towards Northumberland (stop off at Carlisle Castle and The Lanes shopping centre on the way), friends, Romans and countrymen can walk as much of the Hadrian’s Wall Path as they can manage: it’s the north of England’s most visited tourist attraction and most of it runs along the Solway Firth on its way to Northumberland. Happily for such a family-centred site, kiddish fun is all around Solway Holiday Park too: farm park Orton Grange, getting open-mouthed at the fish and other inhabitants at Lake District Coast Aquarium, or going on a hop around award-winning World of Beatrix Potter.
