  • Peaceful family-run park on the Cumbria coast three miles from Silloth
  • Lake District half an hour's drive; 40 minutes to Carlisle
  • Dog-friendly site with access to a long sandy beach
A west-facing site is a lovely thing, allowing you to spend the evening raising a glass (and/or a sausage from the barbecue) to the colourful sunset unfolding in front of you. The only thing that could make this picture even better? A sea view to go with your sunset… and that's exactly what you can expect at Rowanbank Caravan Park. This peaceful family-run park is on the Cumbria coast, five minutes’ drive south of Silloth and right next to a huge sandy beach that's a popular spot for fishing, dog walks and long coastal strolls. Dogs are, of course, welcome on site as well… You'll be just outside the Solway Coast National Landscape here, so there are plenty more walking options around there, or in the northern parts of the Lake District National Park, which is about half an hour's drive away. Add in a championship golf course, a go-kart track, a wildlife park and several historic sites nearby and you should have a location with something to suit most tastes when it comes to days out. This is a laidback and friendly site with simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, a washing-up area, an Elsan point and a launderette. Bring a barbecue along and you'll be able to load it with supplies from the small supermarket in Silloth, which is also a handy place to find cafés and takeaways (fish and chips on the beach, anyone?)

What customers say

This is a peaceful, clean, and well-maintained campsite with friendly on-site staff. Its primary appeal is its excellent location, just a stone's throw from a long, beautiful beach, making it ideal for relaxation and coastal walks. While many guests praise the cleanliness and tidiness of the facilities, including showers and toilets, some comments indicate they could benefit from updating. WiFi is not consistently available. Some guests found the site a bit expensive, particularly for dogs, though a recent manager comment suggests charges have been reduced. The site is highly recommended for families and those seeking a quiet break.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We stayed here at the end of July 2026, and I honestly couldn't recommend this campsite enough. It was my first time ever setting up a tent, and the owner went above and beyond to help us. My electric hook-up lead wouldn't reach, so he immediately brought me another one.

The following morning, we lost power. He came straight over, found that the plug had got wet, dried it out, and had everything working again within minutes. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

The washing and toilet facilities were spotless at all times and always felt fresh and well looked after.

He really couldn't do enough for me and my granddaughter, making our first camping trip a wonderful experience. Thank you for your kindness and excellent hospitality—we'll definitely be back!

Disliked The wind haha but that can't be helped

Liked Quiet and peaceful. This park was not overcrowded and was extremely quiet just what I needed.
the owner/manager was so polite and helpful.
The beach is right across the road and there is a lovely costal walk.
The toilets ( I know people say they need updated) are spotless as are the showers. Plenty hot water and extra large shower cubicles. The manager kept these spotless.
Washing up room had dish soap, sponges and cloths again spotless.
There was a laundry but never used it.
Would I return 100% and hopefully soon.
Perfect quiet rural with easy access to visit local attractions.
Did I say how much I loved the quiet.
There is no local shop etc so make sure you have everything you need but silloth is only a few minutes drive so not really inconvenient.

Disliked Nothing to dislike
