  • Peaceful family-run park on the Cumbria coast three miles from Silloth
  • Lake District half an hour's drive; 40 minutes to Carlisle
  • Dog-friendly site with access to a long sandy beach
A west-facing site is a lovely thing, allowing you to spend the evening raising a glass (and/or a sausage from the barbecue) to the colourful sunset unfolding in front of you. The only thing that could make this picture even better? A sea view to go with your sunset… and that's exactly what you can expect at Rowanbank Caravan Park. This peaceful family-run park is on the Cumbria coast, five minutes’ drive south of Silloth and right next to a huge sandy beach that's a popular spot for fishing, dog walks and long coastal strolls. Dogs are, of course, welcome on site as well… You'll be just outside the Solway Coast National Landscape here, so there are plenty more walking options around there, or in the northern parts of the Lake District National Park, which is about half an hour's drive away. Add in a championship golf course, a go-kart track, a wildlife park and several historic sites nearby and you should have a location with something to suit most tastes when it comes to days out. This is a laidback and friendly site with simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, a washing-up area, an Elsan point and a launderette. Bring a barbecue along and you'll be able to load it with supplies from the small supermarket in Silloth, which is also a handy place to find cafés and takeaways (fish and chips on the beach, anyone?)

What customers say

Rowanbank is a highly recommended, peaceful, and well-maintained campsite, praised for its cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff (particularly Bob and Maxine), and excellent location close to a beautiful beach. Guests appreciated the quiet atmosphere, ample space between pitches, and freedom for children and dogs. Facilities, including toilets and showers, were consistently described as very clean, though some noted they were a little dated. The site offers good value and is a popular choice for returning visitors seeking a relaxing getaway.

Liked Clean shower and toilets

Lots of freedom for the kids especially our autistic 5yr old nephew. Out of the way pitches for our 2 tents so he had plenty of space but couldn't enter other tents or abscond.
Very friendly site and owner and couldn't of been any more helpful and accommodating than he was. Just got home and we have already booked for Friday and Saturday nights.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Closeness to sea shore. Silloth town just great has a nice vibe. Onsite staff are helpful and pleasant. Laundry useful. Showers and toilets very clean. Level pitches.

Disliked Very basic site, no heating in shower block, no ladies hair dryer. Only two showers for ladies. No benches in showers only one disabled seat to use between customers, small separation area to dry yourself away from shower splashes. No waste drain water emptying facility, had to hand carry water to empty tank, a lot of trips with a bucket. Very expensive site for what you get. No WiFi.
