General

  • Coastal site next to Maryport Marina
  • Near an aquarium, two museums, a go-karting track and a golf course
  • Highly scenic views of the Solway Firth, plus spectacular sunsets

Ahoy there... If you’ve been seeking a site right in the middle of the historic harbour town of Maryport – right next to the marina itself, in fact – then you certainly can’t do much better than Harbourside Caravan Site.

Better still, this site is within a very short walk of several of the town’s topping attractions such as a Roman museum, a maritime museum, an aquarium and an indoor karting track; you’re also a mere two miles from the local coastal golf course, and within very easy reach of the Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath too, which runs right through the town.

The site has a simple set of amenities that includes an accessible sanitary block with hot showers, a bath, a parent and baby bathroom and a laundry room and a washing-up area, as well as electricity bollards and water stands around the accommodation area.

In 2017 a new customer lounge with a TV, comfy seating and tables are all available for your downtime, if all you require is somewhere to plan your days of sightseeing or relax with something on the box/your own thoughts.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

liked almost everything about this site.new site still settling in. good size pitches with views over the marina with ehu, water , good tv signal and free WIFI.service areas are second to none. electric 22amp by card...you put money on card and what you do not use you get refunded.there is a lounge area,a kitchen and dining area where you can use the microwave for free and sit down and enjoy ...whilst watching tv if you wish...dogs allowed in there too.there is a fully disabled bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and baby changing facilities in there.very secure from your arrival to leaving although there is access on foot by the general public. for £18 per night per unit and two people very much worth the money. short walk into maryport where buses are every 15 minutes to workington and beyond have already booked to go back

What a lovely place to stay with our touring caravan by the harbour, so quiet and peaceful clean. The facilities are spotless and it cost us for a week for the electricity £10.10 and we had two fans running in the caravan with it being so hot to keep it cool for our two dogs so no complaints from us on that score. We put our awning up and had no problems by doing so, it is fenced around and shrubs have been put in and there is security cameras around with it being by the lovely harbour. The staff are excellent and very helpful. We would recommend a stay there to anyone who wants a peaceful relaxing place to visit or holiday. Plus side also plenty of lovely places for food and takeaways and a bargain for anyone to try, fish and chips £2.99 a portion with fresh tasty haddock at lunch time.

Cancelled this site when I saw the site pictures as it would not be appropriate for 4 days I felt I would not be able to leave awning up as people walk by - thought this would have been a more secure site.

Think this site is only suitable for an overnight stay.

Local attractions

Several excellent attractions lie around Maryport Marina and within very easy walking distance of the park. For a spot of local history, explore the exhibitions and collections at Senhouse Roman Museum and Maryport Maritime Museum, or for something purely fun-based, take the kids for a day out to zoom around the tracks at West Coast Indoor Karting, or to marvel at the fish and other slimy sea creatures that inhabit the tanks at Lake District Coast Aquarium.

If you’re into walking, then the highly scenic Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath also passes through Maryport, and you can head along it in either direction for spectacular views out across miles upon miles of Cumbrian coastline.

Tramp the path six miles north (or take the wheels out for a spin along the B5300) and you’ll happen upon the Victorian village of Allonby; wander around its cobbled streets spying such historic sights as the Old Baths, North Lodge, Christ Church, and the workingmen's Reading Rooms and check out the cheerfully painted homesteads along the way.

As well as lots of history and a couple of award-winning beaches, the village also has some rather fine views across the Solway Estuary towards the mountains in the south of Scotland; for avid anglers, a local company also operates fishing trips off the Solway coast.

Must see

  • John Paul Jones Cottage Museum & Visitor Centre (12.9 miles)
