General

  • Coastal site next to Maryport Marina
  • Near an aquarium, two museums, a go-karting track and a golf course
  • Highly scenic views of the Solway Firth, plus spectacular sunsets

Ahoy there… If you’ve been seeking a site right in the middle of the historic harbour town of Maryport – right next to the marina itself, in fact – then you certainly can’t do much better than Harbourside Caravan Site.

Better still, this site is within a very short walk of several of the town’s topping attractions such as a Roman museum, a maritime museum, an aquarium and an indoor karting track; you’re also a mere two miles from the local coastal golf course, and within very easy reach of the Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath too, which runs right through the town.

The site has a simple set of amenities that includes an accessible sanitary block with hot showers, a bath, a parent and baby bathroom and a laundry room and a washing-up area, as well as electricity bollards and water stands around the accommodation area.

A comfy lounge with a TV, comfy seating and tables are all available for your downtime, if you require a cosy corner in which to plan your days of sightseeing or relax with something on the box/your own thoughts.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

If you bring an awning with your caravan, your car must be parked in the car park.

Great location with easy access to dog walking on the beach and along the promenade. Also a short walk into town. Interesting site next to the harbour with a good amenities block and facilities.

Hardstanding pitches were level and a water tap was on the pitch. Nice small site (10 pitches) surrounded by large grass areas for exercising the dog.

    Staff helpful and friendly

    Disliked:

Unusual to be charged by the kilowatt for electric hookup. I suppose it's fair to pay directly for what you use, but due to the cold weather and high charge for each kilowatt (about 10p more per kilowatt than you pay at home), the hookup charge for 3 nights was £17.50. Understand a flat charge will be included in the rate from next year.

Not a big issue but the water pressure in the showers was a little tame! Took a while to rinse off.

No motorhome service point which again was not a big issue for a 10 pitch site. However emptying the Waste Master in the Elsan point was tricky as you had to lift the full tank to access the drain. A ground level waste drain would be a useful addition

    Paying extra for electricity
Expensive for where it is not child friendly being so close to water it felt like it use to be carpark that they have made into site.Pubs either didn't open on evening or shut at 9pm. Towns a mess needs abomb under it and rebuilt. If you had kids there was nowhere for them to play even thought there is field next to it,it probably full of dog poo cause nobody seem to pick up after their dogs witness this alot. Not one to run a place down this is my experience

Local attractions

Several excellent attractions lie around Maryport Marina and within very easy walking distance of the park. For a spot of local history, explore the exhibitions and collections at Senhouse Roman Museum and Maryport Maritime Museum. Or for something purely fun-based, take the kids for a day out to zoom around the tracks at West Coast Indoor Karting, or to marvel at the fish and other slimy sea creatures that inhabit the tanks at Lake District Coast Aquarium.

If you’re into walking, then the highly scenic Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath also passes through Maryport, and you can head along it in either direction for spectacular views out across miles upon miles of Cumbrian coastline.

Tramp the path six miles north (or take the wheels out for a spin along the B5300) and you’ll happen upon the Victorian village of Allonby; wander around its cobbled streets spying such historic sights as the Old Baths, North Lodge, Christ Church, and the workingmen's Reading Rooms and check out the cheerfully painted homesteads along the way.

As well as lots of history and a couple of award-winning beaches, the village also has some rather fine views across the Solway Estuary towards the mountains in the south of Scotland; for avid anglers, a local company also operates fishing trips off the Solway coast.
