  • Peaceful coastal site next to Maryport Marina
  • Aquarium, museums, go-karting and golf course within walking distance
  • Scenic views of the Solway Firth, plus spectacular sunsets
Ahoy there… If you’ve been seeking a site right in the middle of the historic harbour town of Maryport – right next to the marina itself, in fact – then you certainly can’t do much better than Harbour Side Caravan Site. Better still, this site is within a very short walk of several of the town’s attractions, such as a Roman museum, a maritime museum, an aquarium and an indoor karting track. It's a mere two miles from the local coastal golf course, and within very easy reach of the Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath too, which runs right through the town. The edge of the Lake District National Park is just a 15-minute drive away, good news for any of you who fancy fitting a few hikes into your trip. Scale Force is a 40-minute drive, Bassenthwaite Lake is a 45-minute drive, and Keswick and Derwentwater are a 50-minute drive. Harbour Side Caravan Site has a simple set of amenities, including a wheelchair-accessible bathroom block with hot showers, a parent and baby room, a laundry room and a washing-up area.

What customers say

This harbourside site offers stunning views and is praised for its immaculately clean and modern facilities, including individual shower rooms. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for dog walks, coastal exploration, and is within easy walking distance of town amenities. Some guests noted that the number of showers and toilets could be insufficient during peak times.

Liked The view is gorgeous. Quiet at night. Club with huge beer garden right next to it.
Also booking it was easy and Lynsey at the other end of the phone is so lovely, he couldn’t be more helpful.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Honestly team ….for us the site was spot on, great location with great views, we only stayed 2 nights but managed a terrific bike ride along the coast. Your facilities were always clean and this was our first stay in a van my husband is converting so I was grateful for easy toilet & shower use.

Liked Nice site, area round the marina and harbour very clean.

Disliked Could do with more toilets and showers for the size of the caravan site.
Maryport town centre could do with cleaning up, although there was road works all the way down senhouse street which didn’t help to the look of the area

Local attractions

Several excellent attractions lie around Maryport Marina and within very easy walking distance of the park. For a spot of local history, explore the exhibitions and collections at Senhouse Roman Museum (25 minutes' walk) and Maryport Maritime Museum (10 minutes). Or for something purely activities-based, take the kids for a day out to zoom around the tracks at West Coast Indoor Karting (15 minutes), or to marvel at the fish and other slimy sea creatures that inhabit the tanks at Lake District Coast Aquarium (15 minutes). If you’re into walking, then the highly scenic Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath also passes through Maryport, and you can head along it in either direction for spectacular views out across miles upon miles of Cumbrian coastline. Tramp the path six miles north (or take the wheels out for a spin along the B5300), and you’ll happen upon the Victorian village of Allonby (15 minutes' drive); wander around its cobbled streets spying such historic sights as the Old Baths, North Lodge, Christ Church, and the workingmen's Reading Rooms and check out the cheerfully painted homesteads along the way. As well as lots of history and a couple of beaches, the village also has some rather fine views across the Solway Estuary towards the mountains in the south of Scotland; for avid anglers, a local company also operates fishing trips off the Solway coast.
