  • Campsite with spectacular views over Dentdale in the Yorkshire Dales
  • Settle-Carlisle Railway 10 minutes’ drive; Howgills hiking 15 minutes
  • The Woolshed and Dent Village Heritage Centre and Museum both on site
Yorkshire dales don’t come much prettier than Dentdale, or Yorkshire dales villages much prettier than Dent, so staying at High Laning Caravan & Camping Park means you get double lucky. The site’s less than five minutes’ walk from the village, and all the pitches look out over the breathtaking scenery of Dentdale, right on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This family-run site is set on a traditional dales farm, still working after many years and generations. Pitches are spacious and handily close to the shops, pubs and cafés of Dent, while major supermarket top-ups can be done in Sedbergh (15 minutes’ drive). However, you don’t have to wander very far from your pitch to learn about Yorkshire dales history; High Laning Farm is home to both the Dent Village Heritage Centre and Museum (featuring tall tales about The Terrible Knitters of Dent and the Dent Vampire), and The Woolshed, a purpose-built emporium selling hand-crafted woollen knitwear. If that doesn’t appeal, there are endless walking paths through and around Dent for walkers, along with miles of road cycling through stunning scenery. If the dales themselves can’t keep you all happily occupied and entertained, the family attractions of the Lake District National Park are only 35 minutes’ drive.

Electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked: Area was full of nice views and lovely views

Disliked: Had to leave 30 minutes after setting up after Margret circled us like a shark on her buggie. Fowl attitude shouting at the kids for playing to loud at 5oclock in the afternoon. We asked for a refund and moved else where still waiting on our refund.

Electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked: How the Site was situated at the beginning of the Village and there was amenities close by e.g Pub and plenty of walks - around a 20 minute drive to Kirby Lonsdale - We liked how the site was organised and check in was easy.

Disliked: No really a dislike more something to be aware of as there is not Cash Points in Dent - The showers are on a meter where you have to insert money to start them. Depending on the shower you get it is either 40p (2x 20p) and i think that gets you either 2 or 4 Minutes and then the Ladies had 1 shower which was a 50p coin for 10 minutes. So ensure that you take the correct change.

Electric optional grass tent pitch (small)

Liked: Great location, friendly owners, clean & tidy site.

If you’re wanting food - plan ahead and book, we saw bistro meadowside and the menu looked amazing but struggled to get a table, ended up at George & dragon which was good.

Disliked: Paying for showers but mainly no change machine to be able to pay for them to with specific coins required. (20p’s)

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch (small)

Liked: The tea room opposite in the heritage centre. Plenty of space, lovely food and resonably priced. Great cup of tea as well, with freindly staff which made a fuss of the dog too. Would definately recommend.
The site was very busy (bank holiday peoples) but so quiet, people repected noise and other travellers as well as being very well organised. Beautiful walks nearby and a lovely park right next to the camp field with very easy access for walking the dog/ just having a peaceful 5 minutes on a bench seat. Lovely place would go again.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely views whilst on the site. The village of dent is small but beautiful

Disliked: The road to the campsite is not suitable for caravans at all. We were pitched very close together hardly any space in between. Toilets were not very clean and only one shower which need to pay 50p to use.

Disliked: The moment we arrived the lady who drives around on a buggie was very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable we had pitched up our tent and she came over telling us to tell our children to be quiet baring in mind it was 4 in the afternoon they were playing with their ball causing no problems, she was being very rude and nasty, we weren't even there for an hour and we decided to pack up and check out and find somewhere else stay as prior to packing everything up, she came back on her buggie and approached us to saying we were making a great choice by leaving as they couldn't accommodate us, when checking out the other staff were very polite and apologetic about her behaviour and explained how she done this day before with another group, the rest of the staff were pleasant but my god I won't be going back there as it's not great for family or young children, I would beware of the place we arrive Saturday 3rd may 2025
