  • Well-maintained and quiet West Yorkshire family site in Ripponden
  • A 20-minute drive to Halifax, and 25 minutes to Hebden Bridge
  • Pubs, takeaways, supermarket and farm shop within five minutes’ walk
Chasing a bit of West Yorkshire peace and quiet, but still wanting lots to do? Riverside Glamping and Caravan Park is a clever spot to consider, as it’s in a peaceful hillside spot on the edge of Ripponden, yet still near sports fields, walking routes and cycling trails – and Leeds and Manchester are both under an hour’s drive away if you’re craving some big-city action (or looking for a quick escape from such). Tucked among the woodland and meadows, well-maintained modern facilities at the site include a communal shower block, washing-up facilities and waste disposal. You can also deal with any dirty clothes at the launderette (five minutes’ walk). Chores sorted, there's all sorts of stuff to do right next door. Play tennis and bowls, and give kids the chance to kick a ball around Mill Fold Park and Playground or watch them practise their moves at the skatepark. Ripponden (five minutes’ walk) is the springboard to walking and mountain-biking routes, and there’s coarse and fly fishing on the River Ryburn for anglers. The village is also well endowed with local supermarkets, a farm shop and a choice of Indian takeaways, pizzerias and homely pubs. Dogs are very welcome at Riverside, by the way, but please clean up after them. This is a quiet site, so you'll also be asked to keep noise levels to a minimum after 10pm.

What customers say

This is a well-regarded, quiet campsite with a superb riverside location, a short walk from Ripponden village amenities. Visitors frequently praise the cleanliness of the facilities, friendly owners, and spacious, level pitches. The site is an excellent base for local walks and exploring West Yorkshire. Some minor points raised include limited toilet/shower facilities during peak times and occasional issues with pitch accessibility in wet weather, though these are generally outweighed by the positive experiences.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Great location. Short walk to local shops. Pubs/ restaurants. Bus into Sowerby Bridge, Halifax. Good walks around the area.
Good clean toilet block.

Disliked If on pitch 1, 1a & 1b it is very difficult getting your unit pitch up. If site is bissy. Especially if you are a single person trying to negotiate your caravan .

Electric grass pitch

Liked Really nice campsite with big pitches nestled down a quite road. 2 minutes walk to a nice village with nice pubs and food places.

Disliked Only having 2 self-contained bathroom/toilets is OK if it's quiet but at busier times when people are showering you could wait a while.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Very quiet and lovely walk next to stream. Very clean and people were helpful. Good size pitch and level. Friendly neighbours. Good site as a base for local attractions. Although bottom of valley the view up the hillside was lovely. Nice and relaxing sitting outside listening to birds. Didn't use the WiFi, so can't comment as to quality.

Disliked Absolutely nothing to dislike

Liked Not a great deal

Disliked Pitches too close together, not that level, Only 2 toilets/ showers & electric, very little pressure not the best condition, if some one washing pots outside shower turns cold,
No lighting to see were you going in dark ( a torch is a must), not much ground keeping been done , rubbish goes into big skip,
To get onto pitch had to do 3 point turn
Looked like a lot of permanent caravans / motorhomes on site
Noisy wedding venue next door playing music till nearly midnight
Never once was saw owner / management of site

From the manager: Hi Carl thanks for you feedback it’s important to us am trying to understand some of your complaints so we can improve our site but I don’t understand how the pitches aren’t level when the ground is flat and there 8 metes apart! you spoke to me on a few organisations while I was cleaning the toilets that gets cleaned every day! The hot water to the washing up is completely separate to the showers so am not sure how the showers went cold but I will check it this morning! The skip is a recyclable skip with a lid on it which goes to a sorting plant we use to have 3 bins but unfortunately didn’t get used properly which caused problems for the recycling! unfortunately there was a wedding in the neighbouring fields, which was a one off, sorry for any inconvenience there’s nothing to do with us!
We take feedback from our customers seriously but don’t see how some of your comments are exactly true
But we are sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay
Regards
John
