Eager to explore Northumberland with the added benefit of superb countryside views? Hot-foot it to Bankfoot Camping near Stocksfield in Northumberland. The site is set on a level field on a working farm, completely surrounded by magnificent vistas, and it’s in pole position for discovering the delights of Kielder Forest Park and Northumberland National Park, or having a day out in Newcastle upon Tyne. There are modern and spotless showers on this small and peaceful rural site, but please note that as this is almost-wild camping, there is no electricity – and that means please bring torches from home for moving around the site at night. However, teens will be pleased to know that there are charging points for their devices. Forgot something important? There’s a community shop at Slaley (10 minutes’ drive), or for more major shopping expeditions, head for historic Hexham (15 minutes). Dogs are welcome at Bankfoot but please make sure they are under control at all times, as there is livestock on the farm.

Liked Beautiful field, very clean and tidy, toilets and shower block was spotless.
Great hot shower.
Owner was very helpful and came and met us by the gate, well signed easy access.

Liked Basic site reflected in a very reasonable price. Great value. Facilities were really clean. Owner was friendly calling me before my arrival to advice where to pitch.
Lovely rural setting, close to Hexham and Hadrians wall.

Liked The views were stunning and the owners were lovely and hospitality and were on site daily to check everything was ok.

We were offered a couple of different options of pitches which was good.

Toilets were basic but clean and the owner was in their every morning cleaning them

Disliked The plots were on top of each other so it felt a bit cramped

The electricity power wasn't great and we needed to charge phones using the car but this could be due to the tent next to us charging his electric car.

Wasn't 30 min drive from kielder-it was over an hour's drive to get to the visitors centre

Liked Lovely site, nice and clean, well looked after. Nice contained field for the kids to play

Disliked Free for all on arrival. Got made to move even though we arrived before others, total chaos. People from posts way up the row using your pitch electric so told to change spot to right next to bins and toilets. Owner lovely but out of courtesy I really thought we may have been given our logs for free, but they were £10 for 10 small logs and not even any kindling. To top it off our electric then went off 3 times! Not great for £53 for the night but memories made none the less.

We’re sorry there was some confusion with the electric pitches on arrival. Unfortunately another guest had connected to the wrong hook-up, which meant we needed to reorganise the pitches, and we appreciate that this was frustrating for you.
We were also disappointed that the electricity subsequently tripped and apologise for the inconvenience this caused. We’ve taken the experience on board and will be making the allocation and use of our electric hook-ups clearer to avoid this happening again.

Liked Great area for our first camping trip in a 4 man tent. The lovely woman checked us in and offered us a fire pit. Ablutions were to a high standard and made it easier for getting yourself set for the day.

Disliked No paths to walk directly from the campsite away from a road. No pub or shop with in walking distance. Not the campsites fault just something to note.

Liked Amazing site and lovely owners. No road noise just passing traffic and the toilets/ showers are as they are. No issues with them always clean, hot water and good pressure. We stayed with friends and had a lovely large pitch. Getting the fire pit on the last night was amazing. Bins are emptied daily and plenty of places to walk to. We walked to Stocksfield and got the train to Hexam.

Disliked Only negative is the tap in the ladies has no pressure and soaks the hand towels. But that isn't a big issue. Only a few stars for WIFI as there isn't any but full 4G/5G.
