What customers say
This site offers a friendly atmosphere with helpful staff and generally well-maintained facilities. Guests enjoyed the on-site pub with its delicious and reasonably priced food. Pitches are often described as spacious and level. While the location is convenient for exploring the coast, some visitors noted that the toilet and shower blocks are dated and could benefit from refurbishment. Train noise is present due to the site's proximity to the railway line.

Excellent site, friendly staff, excellent food, totally enjoyable.
Electric hardstanding touring pitch
Liked This was our first overnight stay in our campervan, so wanted something slightly closer to home incase it didn't work out. The site was well laid out, we were given a pitch in the top corner, which for a novice was great.
Met the owner on arrival who directed us to our pitch, which was nicely enclosed by the trees and bushes. Once set up we went into the bar area had a few drinks and ordered food, I had the Wagu burger with BBQ pulled pork, onion rings and chips, my wife had the Garlic Mushrooms on Sourdough toast starter, as a main, both meals were fantastic, and i'm in the trade, food with 4 pints of Moretti was £52, which we felt for what we had was reasonable. The site was really quiet, albeit the NorthEast mainline runs past the site, but they seemed to stop around 11pm. We are early birds, so we're up, had breakfast and packed up by 7.30am.
We will definitely be returning, I imagine it being really nice in the summer months when you can outside of you van and enjoy the summer evenings.
P.s the campervan worked out really well too.
Disliked Nothing to dislike, the toilet and shower block, were a toilet and shower block and did thier job, I had read some negativity about these, but they are what they are, and I had no complaints.

Liked Location was very peacefull host very accommodating will definitely use again .
Did not use the pub as we were out most of the day and eat out in newcastle which is about 40 mins away right into centre
Toilets could do with a bit of a modernisation but they were clean tidy and always available.
Bit dark so take a tourch with you
Disliked Not a lot if you park against the railway line you can sometimes hear the trains outside of motorhome but not really inside

Easy so access, the site pitches…
Electric hardstanding touring pitch
Liked Easy so access, the site pitches are level & spacious. I would recommend carrying the tap screw on fitting for your hose as none on taps.
The pub isn't open mon & tues but when open the food is delicious, we'll priced & plentiful.
The site is just outside the village, Amble & Wirksworth both easy driving distance with Amble being my favourite & very dog friendly.
The station is immediately the otherside of the boundary so trains running through frequently should be taken into consideration if a light sleeper.
Disliked The only real niggle on arrival was that we couldn't contact anyone initially (the pub was closed & not answering the phone) which is a bit off putting when you arrive for a prepaid booking but all ended well eventually.
