What customers say

Beechwood Caravan Park offers a peaceful and clean environment with spacious, level pitches, many fully serviced. The individual shower/toilet cubicles are a highlight, as is the convenient location for accessing York via park and ride. Staff are consistently praised for friendliness and helpfulness. While some found the facilities basic and unheated, the overall consensus is positive, with many visitors recommending the site and planning return visits. Minor issues include distant road noise and the need for clearer signage at the entrance.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Spacious site with lots of trees around. Easy access to facilities for waste. Water on each pitch though pressure not great.

Disliked Some distance from town and a 30 mins walk to the bus in Moorlyn though a reasonably flat route. Sadly facilities on site were not always clean but that's the occupiers as much as anyone

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Really quiet site close to the centre or park and rides. Site surrounded by trees!

Disliked toilets / showers. 3 male and 4 female. They were also fairly cold even given the time of year.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Convenient for Park & Ride into York

Disliked On arrival, visually the site was disappointing having the appearance of neglect - many pitches large weeds. This could easily have been addressed when pitches were vacant - the site never appeared very busy with low occupancy.
We were on Pitch 27 which was right opposite the children's play area - although there was a sign stating children should be supervised, we never saw parents there.
Too many dogs were not on leads when being walked. The couple next to us had a dog where its lead was tethered to a stake but it was that long it was often at the steps of our caravan - we told the couple and they parked their motorhome the opposite way which remedied the problem.
The 'facilities' block was acceptable but looked very tired in places - even many loose slabs around the approach.
No WiFi.

From the manager: Hi John, thank you for taking the time to leave a review but sorry to see that you were not happy with the site.
We do ask, and as the sign states, that children should be supervised and also ask that dogs are kept on a lead.
Unfortunately, due to your last minute request to add an additional night the pitch you were assigned was close to the play area as the only fully serviced pitch left available, previously you were allocated a pitch away from the play area.
We do also advise that we do not have Wifi

Local attractions

Naturally you’ll want to start with York, for history-tinged days at the Jorvik Viking Centre and the minster, strolls down the Shambles, (free) engine-gazing at the National Railway Museum, cruises on the Ouse and sweet tales at York’s Chocolate Story. And then? Maybe for more excellent architecture at Castle Howard (25 minutes’ drive) or Ripon cathedral (45 minutes), or a journey back to the past with a steam railway ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (an hour)? Or perhaps turn eyes to the skies with a trip to the Yorkshire Air Museum (10 minutes)? If you’re of the opinion that no visit to the countryside is complete until you’ve brushed a pig or milked a cow, you can get such things sorted at Piglets Adventure Farm (10 minutes). Thirsk racecourse (40 minutes) is the place if you’d rather see the horses going full pelt, while Flamingo Land Resort (half an hour) should be on the list if you’d rather hurtle along rides or meet exotic beasts. Beach time? It’s around an hour’s drive to Bridlington for a classic British seaside day out – think funfairs, amusements, donkey rides and tasty portions of fish and chips.
