General

  • A 30-acre woodland site a short drive from the A171
  • Easy access to the Yorkshire coast, moors and Goathland
  • Modern amenities, nature trail and shop with tourist info

You might be relieved this site has 'cross' in its name, as it's near the toothy town of Whitby, famed of course these days for its Goth weekends and those days for being where one Count Dracula leapt ashore to UK soil…

But of course Ladycross Plantation Caravan Park has a fair bit more going on for it than that... in fact you could say that the site has a lot of bite...? It's a nifty base from which to flit to the best of North Yorkshire, for one, as it's only 400 yards off the A171 from Teeside to Whitby, and has easy access to the North York Moors National Park and Heartbeat country around Goathlands.

And it's set on 30 acres of good-looking woodland, with a mile-long nature trail meandering through its trees, and with easy access for caravans and tourers. The on-site shop stocks stacks of leaflets on what to do in the surrounding area (after Whitby, natch) and sells a selection of local provisions as well as Calor gas.

Ladycross is run by a family team who have been improving and upgrading the park since taking it over in 2010. Among the features added are two modern and well-maintained toilet and shower blocks with private washrooms and underfloor heating, a waste and water point, and secluded areas for various pitches.

The park also has a book exchange service.

This place is great! Its quiet, well kept and managed. The staff are friendly and the facilities are plentiful and very clean. Although there is no playground the children enjoyed exploring the forest and had plenty of space to play and run around.

Just come home from 7 nights on this very well kept site. Facilities were excellent and the park was pristine. Great dog walk all around the perimeter of the site it was a shame that the dogs had to be kept on the lead. It was ideal for touring around the Yorkshire Moors Whitby only being about 10 minutes drive away.
Lots of lovely places to eat and can highly recommend The Wheatsheaf Inn in Egton and The Forge Inn in Aisalby. There is also plenty of walking in the area we enjoyed our walk from Egton upto Beck Hole via Grosmont and the dogs enjoyed the river and also walking from Sandsend to Whitby along the beach is a must especially if you have a dog, Would definitely return to this site if we are in the area again.

    Disliked:

There was only one recycling area on site and it was a long walk from our pitch.
