- Thirty acres of woodland a short drive from the A171
- Easy access to the Yorkshire coast, moors and Goathland
- Modern up to date amenities added by its family team
You might be relieved this site has 'cross' in its name, as it's near the toothy town of Whitby, famed of course these days for its Goth weekends and those days for being where one Count Dracula leapt ashore to UK soil…
But of course Ladycross Plantation Caravan Park has a fair bit more going on for it than that. (In fact you could say that the site has a lot of bite...?) It's a nifty base from which to flit to the best of North Yorkshire, for one, as it's only 400 yards off the A171 from Teeside to Whitby and has easy access to the likes of the North York Moors National Park and Heartbeat country around Goathlands.
And it's set on 30 acres of good-looking woodland, with a mile-long nature trail meandering through its trees, and has easy access for caravans and tourers… The on-site shop stocks stacks of leaflets on what to do in the surrounding area (after Whitby, natch) and sells a selection of local provisions as well as Calor gas.
Ladycross is run by a family team who have been improving and upgrading the park since taking it over in 2010. Among the features added are two modern and well-maintained loo and shower blocks with private washrooms and underfloor heating, a waste and water point, and secluded areas for various pitches.
The park also has a book exchange service.

Take the A171 towards Middlesborough. Please note: the A169 Whitby to Pickering northbound has steep narrow country lanes when approaching Sleights. If you are taking this road, continue on the A169 up to the roundabout. Turn left onto the A171.
Do not turn left off the A169 signposted Grosmont, Egton. It is dangerously steep with narrow country lanes that drop to sea level. Follow the directions as above.
Among the many fably fun things to see and do there are Whitby Abbey (Dracula!), the castle, the oldness of its port town, the Captain Cook Memorial Museum and fish and chips at the Magpie. And the Whitby Gothic Weekend, and the Bram Stoker Film Festival, and the annual Whitby Regatta...
Around the region are many other famed things to see and do, like fishing and fossil hunting at Robin Hood's Bay, hiking the Cleveland Way, basking on Yorkshire's beaches, or taking the Coastliner bus to the likes of other fab seaside spots like Scarborough and Bridlington.
Inland, have a wander around the North York Moors National Park, Dalby Forest, teeny Yorkshire villages or shopping towns like Pickering and Malton.
