  • Peaceful dog-friendly park two miles from Arncliffe
  • Grassington, Skipton and Malham Tarn within a half-hour drive
  • Easy access to footpaths and fishing on the Skirfare river
What might you fancy doing with your Yorkshire Dales downtime? Mounting an assault on the Three Peaks, perhaps? Or maybe a rather more leisurely day of fishing followed by a ramble to a country pub? No need to plan activities too far ahead – Littondale Country and Leisure Park is fably located for both, meaning you can pick and choose as you go. From this spot a couple of miles from Arncliffe you’ve got easy access to days of walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding through stunning scenery, and it’s a mere 40-minute riverside ramble to a traditional country pub (so classically Yorkshire that it was cast as the original Woolpack when TV soap Emmerdale Farm kicked off). Kids and dogs are welcome on site, so you can bring the whole tribe with you – there’s an adventure playground for the former and plenty of space for the latter to snuffle about. Plus of course a whole heap of open space in which to settle with a picnic (local beers and cheeses highly recommended) as you gaze out over the gorgeous valley views.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Lovely views and great walks if that's what your going for

Disliked: No clear instructions to direct us to reception upon arrival ...gravel pitch was not full of mud and slippery unsuitable to try out our new awning .shower block basic cold and not welcoming ...also unisex and also separate ones for clamping pods why ? No phone signal most of the time and no WiFi unless you stood outside reception...booked and paid for dogs ..glad we didn't take them the mud would of made it a nightmare..also single track road on the approach makes meeting other cars difficult

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: What a great one night stay at Littondale County and Leisure Park. The Motorhome pitch was great, in a quiet area with great views. The static caravan residents were welcoming and spent time to chat. The site was lovely and peaceful and quiet (just what we love). The onsite showers and toilet area was clean and practical. In addition, the staff at the park were friendly and helpful. We had a great time and will return, The surrounding villages were also lovely to visit.

Disliked: WiFi would have been great but i suppose having no wifi enhances the tranquility

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: The site is set in superb Litondale scenery, its really beautiful. This location is its major asset. As has been mentioned the site that would perhaps at one time have been a touring site has gone over to static units and glamping pods that take up most of the elevated site. There were 4 or 5 hard standing level pitches for camper vans or motorhomes all with electric hook up and nearby water. The grass field seems to cater for tents and lots of pitches have electric hook up also.Very well maintained surroundings with neatly mowed grass and clean facilities. There is a laundry, and usual pot washing and showers, even a dog washing station, theres plenty of hot water. There is also a well equipped childrens play area. Being late in the season we shared the site with only one other camper van and no tents were on the field. Its only a short walk down the narrow road to the charming picture postcard village of Arncliff with its unique Dales pub.We loved it.

Disliked: The toilet block that at one time would have had seperate male and female sections with washing areas, but have been separated, one half used for the Glamping pods, so now unisex but kept in good order.Only 3 of the row of toilets were unlocked perhaps due to being late in the season and there are 6 unisex wash basins. If the site had been busy those limited unisex facilites, for some ,could perhaps be slightly challenging but that would be my only issue on this otherwise lovely scenic site.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Quiet, beautiful scenery

Disliked: No shop, not even for basic supplies. Narrow lane to the site although there were passing places and it was quiet. Our pitch was under trees and although it was beautiful there were loads of flies and we both got bitten on the first night. The toilet/shower block was very dated and even dirty - I ended up using the facilities in our van and I'm just grateful we had those.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: This site is mainly a static site however the site itself was beautifully kept and the location amazing. The toilets and showers are clean and spacious. On arrival we were met by a very pleasant young man who was very informative about the site.

Disliked: There are seasonal caravan pitches which of course have the best pitches. The ones left for touring were not as pleasant but adequate.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Absolutely loved the site location - site beautifully kept, staff were organised and all very friendly and helpful couldn't do enough for you. The site was mainly restful and quite (Please see dislike) Very tidy site with dog wash off area

Disliked: Although the site was in general through the day peaceful and I would love to go again the only thing putting me off is that there is a seasonal pitch of young lads in the corner who were quite noisy on their return each evening resulting in me having to have polite!! Words at 12.40 Saturday evening- they did apologise- I was relieved they weren’t there on the Sunday evening- if I was booking again I would check if they were there - at first I was unsure of the unisex toilets but lucky the site was quite - toilet block not the cleanest but overall a good few days

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Peaceful site, grounds beautifully maintained, surrounding area amazing. Only a few pitched sites, mostly holiday lodges and glamping pods. Enclosed field for dogs and adventure area for children away from living area.

Disliked: Being so far from amenities, showers weren’t great, facilities need updating, I think.

Local attractions

Up for a walk? Intrepid trekking types can scramble up the nearest of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks, Pen-y-Ghent; those seeking something a little easier underfoot might like to aim for Malham Tarn and Cove (25 minutes’ drive), Aysgarth Falls (35 minutes) or Fountains Abbey (50 minutes). And of course there are lots of quiet paths to wander along more locally, some of which end up at the pub (a splendid idea). For fishing, it’s a short trot to the trout-filled waters of the Skirfare river; if you’d like to roam the area on horseback there’s a riding centre 10 minutes away in Kilnsey for pony and horse treks. An even easier way to view the scenery is with a ride on the Settle-Carlisle Railway from Settle itself, 40 minutes away. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is full of little villages and towns to poke about in – some popular picks include visits to the Oldest Sweet Shop In The World in Pateley Bridge (35 minutes away), Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes (50 minutes) and wanders around Grassington or Skipton (both about 20 minutes away).
