General

  • Peaceful dog-friendly park two miles from Arncliffe
  • Grassington, Skipton and Malham Tarn within a half-hour drive
  • Easy access to footpaths and fishing on the Skirfare river

What might you fancy doing with your Yorkshire Dales downtime? Mounting an assault on the Three Peaks, perhaps? Or maybe a rather more leisurely day of fishing followed by a ramble to a country pub?

No need to plan activities too far ahead – Littondale Country and Leisure Park is fably located for both, meaning you can pick and choose as you go. From this spot a couple of miles from Arncliffe you’ve got easy access to days of walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding through stunning scenery, and it’s a mere 40-minute riverside ramble to a traditional country pub (so classically Yorkshire that it was cast as the original Woolpack when TV soap Emmerdale Farm kicked off).

Kids and dogs are welcome on site, so you can bring the whole tribe with you – there’s an adventure playground for the former and plenty of space for the latter to snuffle about. Plus of course a whole heap of open space in which to settle with a picnic (local beers and cheeses highly recommended) as you gaze out over the gorgeous valley views.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Bookings must not be for more than 21 consecutive nights.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Littondale is a beautiful valley, with hills all around the park which is clean and tidy if a bit basic. Great for walking and cycling

The shop is very poor. Take your own milk and bread and essentials. There are no staff after 6pm, we had a problem with electrics but some kind resident assisted us.
The toilet block is communal with 3 showers, toilets and sinks supposedly refurbished but the floors in need of some care. Ask for the pods that back on to the toilet block else you will be staring straight at them from the others. They missed a trick not having them face the view of the hills. Not much to do out and about. The Falcon Inn is the nearest pub but its not brilliant.

Lovely quiet location with many pretty villages and walks nearby, stayed in a Pod, a new experience for us which we will certainly repeat, all top quality fixtures and fittings from beds to t.v., staff very friendly and helpful. We are a mature couple and would recommend a Pod as an alternative to a B&B.

Pods were spotless but also brand new this year.

Staff were extremely warm & friendly & went the extra mile to improve your experience where possible.

The location is second to none. It truly is a beautiful part of rural England.

The residential part of the site is very peaceful.

The pod area is compact so your tranquility will really depend on your neighbors during your stay.

    Disliked:

Children’s play park not operational during our visit & shower & toilet block under much needed renovation.

3 times the price we’ve paid for similar facilities elsewhere.

Littondale Country & Leisure Park is situated in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales, the scenery is outstanding with plenty of local walks from the site itself. The park itself is extremely well kept with a friendly and helpful staff. The site is primarily geared up for privately owned Static caravans & lodges and I suspect that many who stay in the pods will be very tempted to consider buying their own so they can stay in this part of the Yorkshire Dales more often.

The pods are brand new and obviously high quality, the pods are extremely comfortable comprising a sofa, double bed, wet room, Freeview TV, and a kitchenette area with sink, microwave and fridge. There is a small verandah and a bistro style table and chairs. Fresh bed linen & towels are provided.

The nearest pub is 1.5 miles down the road in Arncliffe, alternatively follow the riverside path, it may take you a little bit longer but the scenery is worth it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in the pod at Littondale and will return very soon.

A family of 3 we stayed in a pod with our pet dog for 2 nights

We arrived Friday at 4pm the staff were great and we purchased a disposable BBQ from the on site shop as the weather was hot.

The Facilities on site are excellent as well as the views

The Pods facilities are amazing with shower and toilet and kitchen facilities also and even a TV.

We had a barbeque and relaxed

On Saturday me and my 13 year old son went to nearby Kilnsey Park and did some fishing in the family lake and we caught 3 Trout this is a park for beginners there is a more advanced lake next to the family area

After that we went for a late lunch at The Old Hall in nearby Grassington

On Saturday evening we walked our dog to the nearest pub the Falcon approx 25 minutes walk which was nice

Then we got back and had our tea in the Pod and watched TV.

My friends and I paid a visit to the luxurious Littondale Country and Leisure Park situated in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales only last week and I must say: I'll soon be back. I mean, what an outstanding experience - the staff, the weather, the park and the pods were just a dream.

A quick one on the pods: the design detail of these are just exceptional. Not a splinter in sight. Spacious, warm, and with every facility you could want, these were a true bargain. Very much the ideal stay for a family, too, I'd say.
These pods were made to look even more glamorous due to the absolute pristine condition of the park itself. Perfectly maintained...the thought of purchasing a static caravan was becoming even more tempting by the minute.
Furthermore, the staff - from the receptionists to the maintenance workers - were extremely friendly and helpful...at all times. They really made us feel welcome and even provided free ice creams on arrival! This played a big contribution to the quality of our stay.

Please, don't just take my word for it...experience it for yourself.

Staying in the newly erected wooden pods was a brilliant experience. They are well equipped, clean and tastefully decorated. The double bed was strong and very comfortable, as was the sofa bed which can easily sleep 2 more people. The shower was nice a hot and the TV had free view channels which was handy when relaxing at night. The pods are located on a very accessible and well maintained site, set in breathtaking surroundings. Staff on site are very friendly and keen to make your stay a great one. It was a brilliant treat and well worth a stay in the pods.

I think we were the first people to stay in the pods last weekend, either that or they were just immaculate!

I stayed with 4 friends last Friday, whilst on our annual golfing tour of the area. The campsite was fantastic, with great facilities. The reception staff were very helpful and simply could not do enough for us.

We had 2 pods between four of us, and they were just brilliant! Very warm, roasting hot powerful shower, tv with freeview, cooking facilities (not that we used them) and a superb view of the valley.

Put a gas bbq and a jacuzzi in and I’ll put my house on the market and move in!
Have no doubt that I will return to Littondale when were next In the area.

10/10 - have reccomended to friends and family.

    Many thanks,
    Jay, from Cambersands.

Local attractions

Up for a walk? Intrepid trekking types can scramble up the nearest of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks, Pen-y-Ghent; those seeking something a little easier underfoot might like to aim for Malham Tarn and Cove (25 minutes’ drive), Aysgarth Falls (35 minutes) or Fountains Abbey (50 minutes). And of course there are lots of quiet paths to wander along more locally, some of which end up at the pub (a splendid idea).

For fishing, it’s a short trot to the trout-filled waters of the Skirfare river; if you’d like to roam the area on horseback there’s a riding centre 10 minutes away in Kilnsey for pony and horse treks. An even easier way to view the scenery is with a ride on the Settle-Carlisle Railway from Settle itself, 40 minutes away.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is full of little villages and towns to poke about in – some popular picks include visits to the Oldest Sweet Shop In The World in Pateley Bridge (35 minutes away), Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes (50 minutes) and wanders around Grassington or Skipton (both about 20 minutes away).

Must see

  • Jervaulx Abbey (16.8 miles)
  • East Riddlesden Hall (NT) (19.3 miles)
  • Fountains Abbey (20.3 miles)

  • Malham Tarn Estate (4.3 miles)
