Large field in the middle of the yorkshire dales

Straddling the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lodge Park is a well-maintained site that will appeal to those who fancy a peaceful retreat, perhaps punctuated by invigorating walks through the surrounding woodland. Dogs are welcome here, so you can have your best friend by your side as you explore the local paths – not to mention the caves and waterfalls for which this area is known. If you want to sink your teeth into something more challenging, the trailhead for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk (which takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) is a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, you can admire the countryside from the comfort of the train on the Settle–Carlisle heritage railway (Settle station is about a mile away). Keen golfers, meanwhile, might prefer to while a few hours away on the greens at Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club (five minutes’ drive). On site, the toilet/shower block has been built with natural limestone, in keeping with other edifices in the area. On a chilly Yorkshire evening, you’ll no doubt be grateful for the underfloor heating in these quarters, which also include disabled facilities. The market town of Settle (five minutes), with its cute stone cottages, has numerous cafés and restaurants, traditional pubs and independent shops.

Disliked: Only 2 proper gents toilets and 2 showers, 2 proper ladies toilets and 2 showers.
Also a portaloo on the 2 big camping fields which is not acceptable facilities unless you are at a festival maybe.

Nowhere near enough proper facilities for the amount of guests. There is a caravan area at the top then 2 large camping fields with only 2 proper toilets and showers per sex and they were not even clean.

It wasn't even cheap.

Liked: Quiet site, nothing fancy but that suits us.
No issues with the toilets being a bit further away than most campsites, as mentioned in other reviews. They were very clean and well maintained. Liked being able to choose our own pitch.

Disliked: Thought is was expensive for what it was but the view made up for it.

Disliked: Far too few toilets and showers. There are only 2 showers and 2 toilets in the building located at the entrance ( women’s) Consequently toilet paper ran out overnight !
There was a porta loo in each fields, which are big, to help out but really not what you want for the price.

Liked: Pitches were spacious and clean, main facilities were clean. Lovely pitches by the river which was nice.

Disliked: It was quite a trek to the main facilities and only 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 wash up sinks. There was portaloos on each field but these were regularly blocked by kids on site - this however was not the fault of the site or staff.

Local attractions

Don a hard hat and take a stroll deep into the bowels of the earth at Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes’ drive). Here, you can admire stalactites, stalagmites and other spectacular rock formations sculpted by water over many millennia, plus subterranean ponds. Dominated by a well-preserved medieval castle, Skipton (30 minutes) is on the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which you can explore from the comfort of a cruise boat or, if you feel comfortable around swing bridges, from your own hired narrow boat. On the outskirts of town, Raven Tree Top Adventure has hanging bridges and ziplines. Spend a day at the seaside in Morecambe (55 minutes), where you can take a leisurely stroll (or cycle ride) along the promenade, check out the trampoline park and have fish and chips alfresco, as you gaze upon the vast mudflats of Morecambe Bay. The mudflats might look inviting, but they’re notoriously treacherous, with quicksands and fast-moving tides, so you’re advised to stay off them.

Admission

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available pitch on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 7 day(s) of arrival.
Modifications are subject to a £5.00 fee.

Dogs

Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
