Straddling the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, Lodge Park is a well-maintained site that will appeal to those who fancy a peaceful retreat, perhaps punctuated by invigorating walks through the surrounding woodland. Dogs are welcome here, so you can have your best friend by your side as you explore the local paths – not to mention the caves and waterfalls for which this area is known. If you want to sink your teeth into something more challenging, the trailhead for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk (which takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) is a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, you can admire the countryside from the comfort of the train on the Settle–Carlisle heritage railway (Settle station is about a mile away). Keen golfers, meanwhile, might prefer to while a few hours away on the greens at Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club (five minutes’ drive). On site, the toilet/shower block has been built with natural limestone, in keeping with other edifices in the area. On a chilly Yorkshire evening, you’ll no doubt be grateful for the underfloor heating in these quarters, which also include disabled facilities. The market town of Settle (five minutes), with its cute stone cottages, has numerous cafés and restaurants, traditional pubs and independent shops.

Great spot, an easy walk to Settle with awesome views and chilled vibes. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Spacious fields, close to walks. Toilets and showers are modern and clean, but can get busy and water temp can be a bit iffy. Bins overflow sometimes when it's packed. Fire pits for hire.

Liked It was a 6 minute drive from the centre of Settle so it was perfect for us coming for a game of rugby. It was so peaceful and quiet unlike the other reviews. There was maybe 10 different groups camping spread over two fields so you didn't have neighbours, everyone kept themselves to themselves, there wasn't any loud music. It was the perfect peaceful weekend, the sound of the river flowing was perfection! Phone signal was also great which we definitely didn't expect in the area.
You are left to your own devices with someone coming round later on to make sure you're checked in which was fine by us as we're experienced campers but may be a little lax for first timers who need to know where everything is.
People who complain that it's not worth the money don't understand, you're not just paying for the facilities you are paying for such a beautiful location.

Disliked With it being the off season there wasn't any portaloos on the pitches which is understandable when it's very quiet. However, it's a fair distance to the toilet and shower block. There is only 2 toilets and 2 showers per gender which I can imagine doesn't work well when it's busier. The showers could do with a squeegee so that you can clean up after yourselves as the floor was mucky early on and the toilet could do with a sanitary bin for the women and maybe some automatic air fresheners as it stunk first thing in the morning.

Liked I like how close it is to the town centre. Within walking distance, lots of pubs and places to eat locally. Usually stay in the lakes but sometimes it’s quite remote and you have to travel to shops and things by car.

Liked Great location, relatively short walking distance into Settle. The campsite was fairly busy when we was there but very quiet and peaceful. We came with our dog and 5yo as well. The view of the stars at night here were amazing, hardly any light pollution. Toilets and shower facilities were clean.

Don a hard hat and take a stroll deep into the bowels of the earth at Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes’ drive). Here, you can admire stalactites, stalagmites and other spectacular rock formations sculpted by water over many millennia, plus subterranean ponds. Dominated by a well-preserved medieval castle, Skipton (30 minutes) is on the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which you can explore from the comfort of a cruise boat or, if you feel comfortable around swing bridges, from your own hired narrow boat. On the outskirts of town, Raven Tree Top Adventure has hanging bridges and ziplines. Spend a day at the seaside in Morecambe (55 minutes), where you can take a leisurely stroll (or cycle ride) along the promenade, check out the trampoline park and have fish and chips alfresco, as you gaze upon the vast mudflats of Morecambe Bay. The mudflats might look inviting, but they’re notoriously treacherous, with quicksands and fast-moving tides, so you’re advised to stay off them.
