Spacious and green site

  • Peaceful family-run site in the Yorkshire Dales National Park
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Fully licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven
Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site pretty much at the spot where the Yorkshire Dales meets the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only things to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, a dog-walking area, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite offers spacious pitches, friendly and helpful staff, and a cosy on-site bar with popular wood-fired pizzas. Visitors praise the beautiful location, stunning views, and proximity to local walks. Facilities are generally clean, with individual toilet and shower units being a highlight. Minor issues include occasional traffic noise and some dated facilities, though these are often offset by the positive overall experience and likelihood of return visits.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Clean tidy site

Disliked Not shown where to park and when I found the pitch there was no space to pull out awning. There was only enough space for the van. When I arrived at site I saw online about wood fired pizzas. You need to pre-order these which to fair makes sense. I asked very politely explaining my situation and I was told quite bluntly pre order only. I’m sure putting two pizzas in the oven could be done to wow a customer. I arrived on site hungry and had to drive to settle to get a takeaway. I probably would not come back. I would check other local sites which there is many and go else where.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The place is massive with numerous things to do. Plenty of sunshine too. The pub was a nice place too. Overall the place is very well maintained. One of the best I've been to.

Disliked The stench of urine almost knocked me out when using the main toilet block. The rest of the toilet blocks were ok.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Nice flat pitch and despite how busy it was, the site was OK and quiet at night.

Disliked Little bit of a walk to the toilets from our pitch but not really a dislike.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Convenient location. Easy check in. Booked a Grass pitch with electric hookup for our Campervan. Hard standing pitch with grass section was also an option. Everything worked. Good hot showers. All the facilities available for washing up, laundry etc even a couple of microwave ovens. It was May bank holiday week and therefore very busy even so the staff seemed to do a decent job of keeping everything working and clean. Nice little shop. The onsite club was nice to have but a little disappointing and underused. Nice walks to and around Austwick. Check out the Norber Erratics.

Disliked Nothing

Local attractions

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
