Plenty of space to relax
Bowland views on the large field
New hard standing pitches, with view
Spacious and green site

  • Peaceful family-run site in the Yorkshire Dales National Park
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Fully licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven
Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site pretty much at the spot where the Yorkshire Dales meets the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only things to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, a dog-walking area, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

What customers say

Reviewers highlight the campsite's beautiful countryside location, spacious and level pitches, and friendly, helpful staff. The on-site bar and wood-fired pizzas are consistently praised. Facilities, particularly the individual shower/toilet cubicles, are generally found to be clean and well-maintained, though some mention occasional issues with cleanliness or facilities being strained during busy periods. Proximity to local attractions and walking routes is a key advantage. Some guests noted noise from the nearby road.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely campsite in a beautiful location, close to settle and the yorkshire 3 peaks.
Plenty of space on the site and very clean, friendly staff, bar and beer garden. Didn't try the pizzas but told they are excellent. Small dog exercise area.

Disliked Water tap on the plot next to us, meaning people were going on someone's pitch.

Could do with a few more showers/toilets, enough during the day and night but queuing first thing in the morning.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked space in general

Disliked Toilets were dirty, people were playing loud music into the late night. (i would have expected some one to tell them off. also, men from spaces 18/19 came back after midnight shouting, swearing and singing like there was no one in their surroundings. Overall, disrespectful and noisy campsite, will try to avoid in the future. Also, not enough showers.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The countryside location was beautiful and peaceful, and we found it easy to visit interesting places in the local area. The site was generally well-maintained and staff were friendly and helpful. The showers were always hot.

Disliked It would have been useful to have a working drinking water tap in the part of the field we were in.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Fantastic site with large level pitches and open views of the countryside. We went with our family and grandkids and all had a fab time. Freshly prepared pizzas was an added bonus, they were superb

Disliked The shop was only open for 2 hours early morning, a couple of hours in the afternoon as well would have been handy.

Liked Nice location nice large pitches.

Disliked On the onset it looked ok but the outside of the bar was an accident waiting to happen the garden furniture was rotten and very untidy driving in looked like a scrap yard . Such a shame the owners are not looking after it the buildings are beautiful.

Local attractions

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
