Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: We like the location of this campsite as it is so close to Helmsley and The Flower Belt. It’s also very good for the children as the facilities are very good. Shop has all sorts that you can buy.
Disliked: We usually like staying here but it was our first time using the campsite on an electric hook up pitch. We found it very difficult to pitch our tent because of the amount of concrete in the ground. We broke a lot of our tent pegs and our mallet in the process and only managed to get the pegs about 2 inches in the ground in some places. We understand that this is part and parcel of camping but we’ve never experienced as bad as this, in our many years of going camping.
It was very windy when we stayed and therefore had to keep checking the tent pegs that we’d had to place in on an angle, because they were coming up out of the ground all the time.
We couldn’t get our wind breaker in the ground either to even attempt sitting outside.
We paid for a week’s worth of wifi and couldn’t get connected on any device that we tried. We asked for advice/money back in the shop but we were told the owner could only authorise a refund and she wasn’t available. We were told we weren’t the first couple to complain about the wifi.
We also couldn’t get any electricity the first night we arrived and could only get the electricity the morning after our first night. So, not sure why this happened. My only guess is that it wasn’t turned on at the mains by the staff. I’m not too sure how this works, but on the morning the electricity started working and we’d changed nothing from the night before.
Again, we were told that the owner wasn’t available when we requested to make a complaint. Very disappointed in our experience this time round. If you intend on going camping I’d suggest to request not being placed at electric pitch C11.

Liked: First time going to this site after being told about it from a friend, we were in the middle of both parks which was great for the kids.
Toilet blocks absolutely spotless couldn’t fault them at all, kids have asked to go back so couldn’t be that bad haha.
Staff where absolutely amazing from getting there to leaving, good little shop on site incase you forget anything.

Electric grass pitch
Liked: 2 playgrounds. Indoor barn. Very clean facilities. Well stocked shop. Friendly staff. Opposite a big play friend. Our pitch had asteo turf so wasn't boggy and very flat.
Disliked: Not their fault but very windy on the top row! Next time will be a row down.
Is abit hilly for those who struggle! (We didn't mind it)
Is in the middle of nowhere but plenty tk drive to - thirsk, Moor allerton, Malton etc

Electric hardstanding touring pitch
Liked: The hard standing which we were allocated was in a good spot G19, close to all the amenities and relatively quiet.
If you have children then this could be the site for you. Nicely situated for trips out to various local attractions and villages.
Disliked: It’s very big and busy site with lots of children. The pitch on which we were allocated was on the route to the play barn, so we had a bit or children traffic, but not too much to be too bothered. In my opinion, this site is more suited to families, so unfortunately this site is not for us and won’t be returning.

Liked: Facilities were excellent and everywhere was pristine. Modern and clean shower and toilets, showers and dishwashing area. Great on site shop with all the essentials and sweets/toys for the kids. Two fantastic parks for the kids with a football field, basketball and a large dog walking area. Games room with pool, table tennis, table football. If you’re camping there’s also a hut with hot drinks machine, microwave and freezer. Very peaceful and scenic area and good access. Coffee trailer there on a weekend serving hot and cold drinks and cakes. There is wifi available to purchase on site but I found the 4G coverage was excellent so did not need wifi.
Disliked: The only thing I’d say was a negative was the remote location. It’s not a huge issue and we didn’t have a problem as we’d taken everything we needed but if travelling in a large motorhome like us, and don’t have use of a car to travel while on site then there’s nowhere nearby to walk to and nearest bus stop is a walk of a mile away. Suggest maybe a fish n chip van or pizza van on a weekend?
