  • Peaceful, dog-friendly site two miles from the beach
  • A 10-minute drive to Hornsea and 15 minutes to Bridlington
  • Pub and shops a short walk away
Nothing like a bit of sea breeze to revitalise all your senses, eh? And there's plenty of that to be had around Samara Caravan Park, in the peaceful town of Skipsea. This East Yorkshire site is a short jaunt from several seaside towns: you can drive five minutes to the nearest beach (or follow the sound of lapping waves on foot) or get out to bigger towns like Hornsea (10 minutes' drive) and Bridlington (15 minutes). Meanwhile, the heritage grounds of Flamborough are 25 minutes away, where you can catch auks and gannets diving from chalky cliffs. A good antidote to hectic everyday life, this relaxed site is set up with facilities like toilets, showers and water points to top up your bottles or for your pots and pans, as well as a chemical disposal point. There are plenty of friendly faces on this family-run site, ready to point you in the direction of countryside jaunts, old ruins, and the best surf. Dogs are welcome at this site, so make sure you save a space for your furry friend. It’s a five-minute stroll to food shops, as well as a Yorkshire ice cream parlour (bubble gum ice cream, anyone?). Don't fancy cooking? Take advantage of the local pub garden two minutes away, where you can wet your palate with a warming cask ale or hot meal. Please note that fires and disposable barbecues are not permitted. Please note that pets must be kept on a lead as the site has free-range chickens.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained and clean site with friendly, helpful owners and staff. Guests appreciate the quiet atmosphere and level pitches, with good proximity to local pubs and the coast. While the site is praised for its upkeep and welcoming nature, the toilet and shower facilities are frequently mentioned as dated and in need of an upgrade, although they are consistently reported as clean. Despite this, many visitors express a desire to return.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Samara caravan park was very welcoming. The site was very clean and located perfectly for us visiting various beaches.
I read reviews before arrival and a lot are moaning about the toilets and showering block. Though they were outdated they were cleaned numerous times through out the day, they are just standard camping facilities. We had no problems using them and didn’t affect our stay at all.
We spoke to a few yearly residents whilst on site, that were very friendly and informational for sight seeing.
The ground was really hard so make sure if camping to take a peg puller as we didn’t and struggle getting ours out, but that was our fault.

Disliked We only had one issue that concerns one of our dogs. He does bark like most dogs do but loves camping and is usually very calm like our other dog.
The owner came to the tent and told us to “shut the dog up it’s pissing her of” and walked away as I said I was just getting his lead on. It was quite frustrating as if she had stayed I would have explained that the 3 children that were running up and down the campsite had earlier kicked there ball at him, I did ask them not to, then they proceeded to wind him up with it. We did ask nicely if they could move just a little further up (they were just kids playing) but the more he reacted the funnier they found it. We moved our dog inside the tent into his crate, and they started throwing the ball into the tent and running into it were his crate was. We asked the parents if they could ask them to stop and they sat out side their caravan laughing. We tried numerous times to calm him down. Walked round the site the whole time I was with the dog the kids were outside their own caravan an as soon as we came back. They came back. Until the younger one was pushed into the gravel by an older one and nearly smashed into our van. The parent left them crying on the floor an shouted them to come back. I hope this is on cctv for review and this shows some understanding on why he started been reactive to nearly everyone that walked past.
I did try catching the owner on the morning to explain but my daughter said I’d just missed her and we didn’t see her again before we left.
This could have been resolved with a quiet conversation.
I fully understand the frustration of a constant bark so understood were the owner came from especially if she didn’t see anything and only heard the dog. We was trying to ignore them an hoping they would just go away and he did settle nicely once they returned to their parents.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked As it was my first time camping and not able to do a try out pitching the tent before hand, I just wanted a small site for a couple of days. Nice little site.
Mary the site warden was very helpful and kept the site well maintained.
It was very peaceful, just a little noise from the road through the night, it didn't bother me but if you are sensitive to noise then take some earplugs .
Good size pitch and level
Not too far from Hornsea, Bridlington or Hull if you wanted a trip out.
There is WiFi that is payable, I didn't need it so can't say how good it is.

Disliked The shower block is dated but they have plans to upgrade.
No hot water in the washing up area.
I would have liked and found useful a freezer for my ice blocks, especially as the weather was so hot.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely little site. Stayed for a quick weekend break but made to feel welcome but left to our own space. Close for walk into skipsea pub! And “skirly” market. cannot comment on facilities as always just use our caravan but looked basic. Will no doubt book again for a quick break.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Beautiful well manage pitches and site, wardens fantastic pleasant and explained everything. Water taps not far from pitches and easy access to electricity plugs lovely community on site. Made to feel welcome. TV reception great, normal WiFi signal was poor but for the weekend small charge £2 site WiFi was excellent.

Disliked Only dislike was the shower, toilet and utilities block, although was kept clean and tidy plenty of toilet paper, for the size of the park not really fit for purpose now not enough units and leaks all over, but in talking to to the warden seemingly new block to be fitted. Could do with shelter putting over elsan area.

The noise from the road is awfull!
Wire on flag pole twanging all night every night.
The surrounding farms smells of dead animals horrendous smell.

Local attractions

Being just two miles from Fraisthorpe Beach (10 minutes’ drive), it wouldn’t be a holiday without time spent digging moats on the sandy beach, examining rock pools, or chasing the pup into the surf (it’s dog-friendly too) Further afield, more coves can be found at the chalk cliffs of Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (30 minutes). The expanses of East Yorkshire countryside are right on your doorstep too. Pull on your wellies and prepare to hurdle the country stiles – and while you’re roaming, check out the earthwork left in the wake of the ruins of Skipsea Castle (two minutes), which used to be an old Norman motte-and-bailey fortress. You won’t be short of activities for the whole family in this area either. Perhaps prepare a picnic to enjoy on the grounds of the family-run working farm at Honeysuckle Farm (10 minutes). Then, pop by Mr Moo’s Ice Cream Parlour (two minutes) for some real mouth-watering Yorkshire dairy ice cream – orange marmalade, ticklee toffee, and blackberry slammer are just some of their out-of-the-box flavours. Less of a sweet tooth? Dig into a heartier meal in the beachfront pubs of Bridlington and Hornsea (each within a 15-minute drive) or venture into markets of Beverley (30 minutes).
