Beautiful site
Beautiful site

  • Peaceful, dog-friendly site two miles from the beach
  • A 10-minute drive to Hornsea and 15 minutes to Bridlington
  • Just 10 minutes' stroll from a village shop and dog-friendly pub
Nothing like a bit of sea breeze to revitalise all your senses, eh? And there's plenty of that to be had around Samara Caravan Park, in the peaceful town of Skipsea. This East Yorkshire site is a short jaunt from several seaside towns: you can drive five minutes to the nearest beach (or follow the sound of lapping waves on foot) or get out to bigger towns like Hornsea (10 minutes' drive) and Bridlington (15 minutes). Meanwhile, the heritage grounds of Flamborough are 25 minutes away, where you can catch auks and gannets diving from chalky cliffs. A good antidote to hectic everyday life, this relaxed site is set up with facilities like toilets, showers and water points to top up your bottles or for your pots and pans, as well as a chemical disposal point. There are plenty of friendly faces on this family-run site, including an on-site warden, ready to point you in the direction of countryside jaunts, old ruins, and the best surf. Dogs are welcome at this site, so make sure you save a space for your furry friend. It’s a five-minute stroll to food shops, as well as a Yorkshire ice cream parlour (bubble gum ice cream, anyone?). Don't fancy cooking? Take advantage of the local pub garden two minutes away, where you can wet your palate with a warming cask ale or hot meal. Please note that fires and disposable barbecues are not permitted. Please note that pets must be kept on a lead as the site has free-range chickens.

What customers say

This is a clean, quiet, and well-maintained site with friendly, helpful owners. Pitches are level and spacious, close to local amenities like a pub and the coast. The new washroom block is a great improvement. Some road noise is occasionally mentioned.

Liked The woman who owns the site was really friendly, the site was really well maintained, and all the facilities were spotless. We pitched up our tent and had a lovely weekend.

Disliked The only thing that l disliked was the lack of bins around the site, if you needed to get rid if something you had to walk back to the entrance where the bins were.

Liked Lovely small campsite. Clean toilets / showers. The owners were lovely and couldn’t have done more for us. The kids loved the swing set and was ideal as we could see them from our pitch. It’s definitely ideal if you’re wanting something more subtle and not busy which was great for us with young children. Would definitely come back ☺️

Liked 15‌ mins drive to bech

Disliked It is very close to the farm. At night there is a bad smell of the farm. You cannot sleep. I wonder if they set up a camp there. I hope they either remove the campsite or move the farm to another location.

From the manager: This customer was removed from our caravan site as they left the toilets in a disgraceful way and started cutting trees down and bushes to build a campfire after the government banded barbecues fires, not only that there’s caravans intense everywhere complete fire hazard.

Liked The campsite was well set up. The facilities were good and kept very clean.
The owner kindly put us in a pitch near to the toilets and the playground, so the children could play whilst being supervised from the tent.

Liked Clean, tidy and small

Disliked Site seems more geared towards seasonal caravans, very cliquey with comments made towards us. Also didn't appreciate being woken to rave music at 730 am.
Pitchup states WiFi included but you have to pay extra for it.

From the manager: Rang the customer to get to the bottom of the issue.

WiFi is £2.00 for 48 hours

Apparently the tent across the way was playing music if I had been informed I would have done something about it.

We do have season customer but I can assure that everyone gets treated the same

Local attractions

Being just two miles from Fraisthorpe Beach (10 minutes’ drive), it wouldn’t be a holiday without time spent digging moats on the sandy beach, examining rock pools, or chasing the pup into the surf (it’s dog-friendly too) Further afield, more coves can be found at the chalk cliffs of Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (30 minutes). The expanses of East Yorkshire countryside are right on your doorstep too. Pull on your wellies and prepare to hurdle the country stiles – and while you’re roaming, check out the earthwork left in the wake of the ruins of Skipsea Castle (two minutes), which used to be an old Norman motte-and-bailey fortress. You won’t be short of activities for the whole family in this area either. Perhaps prepare a picnic to enjoy on the grounds of the family-run working farm at Honeysuckle Farm (10 minutes). Then, pop by Mr Moo’s Ice Cream Parlour (two minutes) for some real mouth-watering Yorkshire dairy ice cream – orange marmalade, ticklee toffee, and blackberry slammer are just some of their out-of-the-box flavours. Less of a sweet tooth? Dig into a heartier meal in the beachfront pubs of Bridlington and Hornsea (each within a 15-minute drive) or venture into markets of Beverley (30 minutes).
