  • Small rural East Yorkshire site in the hamlet of Great Hatfield
  • Three miles from the coast at Hornsea; Hull 25 minutes' drive
  • Next to the Trans Pennine Trail for walking and cycling
Heading to Hull, hitting the beach in Hornsea or taking on the Trans Pennine Trail? Whatever it is that brings you to this part of the country, Tower Hill Caravan and Camping makes an excellent base for an East Yorkshire break. This well-kept and peaceful rural site is in the hamlet of Great Hatfield, about three miles from the coast and the seaside town of Hornsea. It’s also got the Trans Pennine Trail passing very close by, so makes a handy place to bed down for a night or two at the start of your walk or bike ride. Tower Hill is a small site but it’s big enough to house a good collection of useful facilities, including a launderette, a washing-up area and toilet/shower facilities. It’s also got a wifi service that comes in particularly handy for planning days out or checking your walking/cycle routes. You’ll be allowed to bring along a barbecue to cook your meals here as long as it’s kept off the ground (no campfires though, please, for safety reasons). If you’d like someone else to do the cooking you may like to walk along the trail to the nearest pub, about 45 minutes away, or into Hornsea, an hour away, for pubs, cafés or a fish and chip supper on the beach. Hornsea’s also your nearest place for shops, and has various attractions including Bugtopia Zoo and boating on Hornsea Mere. Hull is about 25 minutes’ drive away for The Deep aquarium and the Streetlife Museum.

Liked: Wow absolutely loved it here, can't wait To go back, massive pitches, very clean toilets and showers, rang the owners as we got a mile away, if your coming from Hornsea you turn right at the roundabout where tesco is follow the road you will see another caravan site white cottage on your right ( at night 3 massive white lights in the field ) then a house with 1 white lion near the gate past there though the S bends then as you go up a slight hill on the left is a water tower set off the road around the water tower and hose next door is a fence with white pillars go into the lay by at the wend of the white pillars and before the tree is the drive to the caravan site ( hard to find in the dark but once we had found it and gone out it was much easier to find after that) we were the only ones staying it was perfect 😀

Disliked: We didn't want to leave 😞

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Arrived at this site and on the booking it says to call the number when on site, we called the number and left a message on the answering machine. No one called us back so we pitched up in one of the pitches available it was large and level. The kitchen has a washing machine, sink etc... there was one shower and 2 toilets one being a disabled but the light did not work also other facilities where there and ok. The showers were clean but no heating so a bit chilly.

Disliked: This site was ok, very small and we feel should be cheaper per night. We couldn't settle on this site my husband was on edge all night as it felt very random hard to explain but I'm sure there are a lot of ladies out there that no what I mean.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Site within easy reach of Bridlington , a large superstore and beach. The facilities were amazing best we have used. The pitches were wide and flat. The site looks like it’s a work in progress but if facilities are anything to go by it’s going to be brilliant. Easy, friendly welcome and told to pick where we wanted to pitch. Wi-Fi was a bit spotty but good phone signal so didn’t need it. The only thing I could suggest is a hook in toilet to hang bag etc. We will definitely be returning it’s fab.

Disliked: Nothing !!!!

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nice quiet site really good facilities with easy access friendly people and nice area with shops nearby. The pitches are nice and level with plenty of places to hook up electric, we only spoke to staff over the phone but she was very polite and helpful would recommend this site to anyone!

Disliked: We didn’t have any problems but you may struggle to get into the toilet/shower block if you have a disability as there’s quite a high step, the site also took a little while to find as google maps took us to the wrong place if you have the same problem find the big white water tower and go in the lay-by infront of it and it’s signposted.

Local attractions

Hornsea is likely to be your first port of call – you can drive there in about five minutes, walk in 45 or cycle in 20. There’s a lovely sandy beach up here, with plenty of places to pick up fish and chips or ice creams, and several other attractions including Bugtopia Zoo, Honeysuckle Farm and boating on Hornsea Mere. The town is also home to a leisure centre with a swimming pool, and an outlet shopping village. For a wilder stretch of coast, head over to Mappleton beach (five minutes’ drive), or pack your binoculars and make your way to Flamborough Head (45 minutes) to look out for seabirds. To see marine life instead, head into Hull (25 minutes) for a day at The Deep aquarium (the free Streetlife Museum, home to all sorts of old vehicles, is well worth a visit too while you’re there…) Other places to visit in the area include Burton Constable Hall & Grounds (10 minutes) and the lovely town of Beverley (25 minutes), which is full of independent shops.
