Heading to Hull, hitting the beach in Hornsea or taking on the Trans Pennine Trail? Whatever it is that brings you to this part of the country, Tower Hill Caravan and Camping makes an excellent base for an East Yorkshire break. This well-kept and peaceful rural site is in the hamlet of Great Hatfield, about three miles from the coast and the seaside town of Hornsea. It’s also got the Trans Pennine Trail passing very close by, so makes a handy place to bed down for a night or two at the start of your walk or bike ride. Tower Hill is a small site but it’s big enough to house a good collection of useful facilities, including a launderette, a washing-up area and toilet/shower facilities. It’s also got a wifi service that comes in particularly handy for planning days out or checking your walking/cycle routes. You’ll be allowed to bring along a barbecue to cook your meals here as long as it’s kept off the ground (no campfires though, please, for safety reasons). If you’d like someone else to do the cooking you may like to walk along the trail to the nearest pub, about 45 minutes away, or into Hornsea, an hour away, for pubs, cafés or a fish and chip supper on the beach. Hornsea’s also your nearest place for shops, and has various attractions including Bugtopia Zoo and boating on Hornsea Mere. Hull is about 25 minutes’ drive away for The Deep aquarium and the Streetlife Museum.

Rustige, schone camping met ruime plekken. Mooie landelijke locatie, maar beperkte bewegwijzering en WiFi onbetrouwbaar. Douches kosten geld. Verwacht verbeteringen, maar geluidsoverlast van medekampeerders en gebrek aan faciliteiten voor kinderen zijn minpunten.

Ik was blij met Small site, quiet, has a washing machine, microwave n kettle inside and good washing up area.

Good camping ground drainage.

Ik was niet blij met A few things we have stopped before last year but not again.

A drain in the camping section had faeces around it with alot of toilet tissue grandson fell over on the tissue and got human faeces on him. Another drain cover moved and part of the mans leg fell in it and got wet. Both issues reported owner was apologetic and was dealt with a board being put on toilet tissue one and a cone being put on the other.

Toilet block 1 shower was broke so only 1 shower working for the whole site. Toilet roll is kept on the floor so water, urine is on them. Disabled/ baby changing toilet has a dip in the floor you loose your balance on due to the fact the toilet leaks water from the u bend as the cistern is away from the wall and when you sit on the toilet it all moves so floor looks like its rotting underneath.

Boundary fence around the tents is rotting and in parts broken.

We felt its not being looked after as much as last year at the beginning of the season. Such a shame really. Talking to other campers they said they wouldn't stop there again.

Ik was blij met Very quiet site close to Hornsea nice amenities site is very clean also free WiFi.

Ik was niet blij met Only negative is that as well as having to pay for the hot water for the shower which happily accept also needed to pay if wanted hot water to wash the pots also no park or field for the kids to play in.

Ik was niet blij met Didn’t even stay, pulled in went through what looked liked a scrapyard to the camping area in a tiny car park outside the fenced off grass where we would of had to carry our extremely heavy tent across to the pitch. Not ideal so didn’t stay

Ik was blij met Location, short drive to Hull and Hornsea.

Peaceful, Quiet Campsite.
Kitchen facilties.
Included kettle, toaster, Microwave, washing machine.

Ik was niet blij met Facilities including showers and toilet weren't cleaned for the duration of our stay, we arrived Friday and they were suitable, by the time we left Sunday they were in a state. Lots of people to use only one shower as the other was out of order. No toilet roll restocked.

We didnt see any owners upon check in or throughout our stay, found this a bit odd.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Hornsea is likely to be your first port of call – you can drive there in about five minutes, walk in 45 or cycle in 20. There’s a lovely sandy beach up here, with plenty of places to pick up fish and chips or ice creams, and several other attractions including Bugtopia Zoo, Honeysuckle Farm and boating on Hornsea Mere. The town is also home to a leisure centre with a swimming pool, and an outlet shopping village. For a wilder stretch of coast, head over to Mappleton beach (five minutes’ drive), or pack your binoculars and make your way to Flamborough Head (45 minutes) to look out for seabirds. To see marine life instead, head into Hull (25 minutes) for a day at The Deep aquarium (the free Streetlife Museum, home to all sorts of old vehicles, is well worth a visit too while you’re there…) Other places to visit in the area include Burton Constable Hall & Grounds (10 minutes) and the lovely town of Beverley (25 minutes), which is full of independent shops.
