  • Luxury glamping site on the edge of the village of Wold Newton
  • A 20-minute drive to east coast beaches at Filey and Bridlington
  • Private hot tub, bathroom and patio area with barbecue for each unit
Now how’s this for a bit of luxury? At Wold Meadow, on the outskirts of the pretty East Yorkshire village of Wold Newton, you’ll be staying in a luxury glamping unit with its own private wood-fired hot tub, ready for you to leap into whenever you fancy it… It’s just the place for a bit of sunset watching and/or stargazing – and the experience is further boosted by having bathrobes and prosecco provided (along with the first bag of logs). Those little touches aren’t the only ones, however – lots of things have been thought of here, including a log burner (again with the first bag of logs and kindling), an electric cool box and a kingsize bed made up with cosy colourful bedding. Lots of practicalities have been sorted here too, including a designated toilet and shower for each unit a short walk away. On the food front, there’s a kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery and glasses for each unit and a shared kitchen with a microwave, an oven and a hob, plus all the essential pots and pans. Whatever you choose to rustle up there can be taken back to your private patio area, which has a bistro table, chairs, a parasol, a barbecue and a firepit with fabulous views out over the surrounding Wolds. If you’d like a closer look at the Yorkshire Wolds, pick up the Wolds Way about three miles away for a walk or bike ride through lovely countryside and cute tiny villages. Meanwhile, if that’s a bit too far to roam, a short walk takes you down to the village to feed the ducks at the pond or sip a pint in the dog-friendly pub. One final luxury to mention… this is an adults-only site so you’ll have to leave the kids elsewhere…

Liked: Our stay at Wold Meadow Yurts was absolutely fantastic. The yurts are very spacious and have absolutely everything you need inside them(Comfy Blankets, kettle, toaster, cutlery, cool box, log burner and much more) All logs and kindling could be purchased on site at a very good price. The owners were excellent with a friendly approach and very welcoming. They were clued up with the local areas and recommended some restaurants for excellent food within 15/20 minute of the site. The facilities were brilliant, each individual yurt had it’s own wash room in the shower block and a communal kitchen area with all the essentials for cooking including an electric oven. The hot tub was absolutely fantastic and even better at night with no light pollution which created an amazing experience for star gazing. We will 100% be returning and we have passed on details of the site to family and friends.

Disliked: Nothing to Dislike

Liked: Lovely peaceful little place. Almost everything thought about such as cutlery, plates and cups etc. Very relaxing in the hot tub. Would highly recommend. Small little site so a lot of the time you feel like you're the only ones there. Highly recommend and I'm pretty sure we will be back.

Disliked: Like others have said its the flies. There is a lot of them and it's a shame for the owners as there's not an awful lot they can do. When we go back I might try the coins in bay of water trick. You are left some fly spray but doesn't really do much. If I was to be a little picky the toilets get hot with no window that opens and the shower is set at one temperature where as I would love to have been able to have a cold shower to cool down as it was quite stuffy. But that's being a bit fussy and it's really not that big of a deal when the place is as beautiful as it is.

From the manager: Hi Thanks for your lovely review, we are pleased that you enjoyed yourselves and would like to come back, Unfortunately when the weather is warm and a bit muggy we do get the flies as its a rural site I've not heard of the coins in the bay trick but I will be looking at it, it may work alongside the fly spay and incense sticks. Many thanks Jayne and Graham.

Local attractions

Stepping away from your own smart abode, you may like to set off to see some of the area’s stately homes – perhaps the Elizabethan Burton Agnes Hall (15 minutes’ drive), Grade I-listed Sewerby Hall & Gardens (25 minutes), or Scampston Hall (25 minutes), surrounded by Capability Brown-designed parkland. If it’s coastal capers you’re after, head east to the beaches of Bridlington, Filey (both 20 minutes) and Scarborough (25 minutes) or pack your binoculars and see what you can spot at RSPB Bempton Cliffs (25 minutes). And how about boosting your luxury stay with some of the area’s top food and drink? A stop in Malton (half an hour) usually turns up plenty of tasty eats in the town’s many food shops, and a tour of the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery allows you to learn about the whisky produced there before picking up a bottle for nightcaps back by the firepit.
