General

  • A small family-run holiday park in Carnaby
  • Caravans, motorhomes and tents are welcome
  • A perfect spot for great seaside, walking, and bird watching holidays

Park yourself here for a bunch of fun: Park Rose Caravans is a tourer and motorhome site, with six grass pitches for tents (with electric hook-up) in Park Rose Village, an activity and adventure centre in Carnaby three miles from the seaside town of Bridlington.

Little bloomers have a wealth of activities to ramble around. Kids can zip around on the zipwire, there's an outdoor mini town with school and mini jail for mini miscreants, and a crazy golf course to challenge the grown-ups. During the summer months, nautical enthusiasts can also take a turn on the Boats Bumper Lake while bigger folk are welcome to have a go too at the F1 Racing Track which has a circuit for budding drivers to zoom around at £1 a go. (The Barn is closed for winter; the outside mini town, F1 racing cars and crazy golf will open throughout the winter season, weather permitting.)

But the kids will probably be most eagle-eyed at the on-site Birds of Prey and Animal Park, an award-winning centre with birds of prey including owls and falcons as well as other favourites like meerkats and alpacas. There are activities throughout the season including flying displays, falconry classes, small animal holding and donkey rides; we reckon the pig racing should be a hoot.

Having a lie-in after all that? The Park Rose café serves breakfast all day, and also has homemade cakes and scones, lunches and dinners, and succulent Sunday roasts. So everything should come up roses…

A shower block is also available, and the park has now added new lighting between the caravan park and the loos.

Please note

Group bookings of 5 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

When arriving, please check in at The Café. The Café is open every day from 10am until 4pm.

The staff were very friendly and the pitch was very spacious for me and my mates. The cafe's food was nice in the mornings for breakfast and our campfires were peaceful on the evenings

    Disliked:

Not a lot of activities but it didn't matter as we were close to Bridlington.
Facilities were basic but again didn't matter as it is what you expect and did the job
Pitch wasn't level in a part of the pitch but we just put the car there
Wi-Fi was bad quality so had to use mobile data a lot of the time which was a bit annoying

Dirty toilet blocks and showers. 2 toilet and 2 showers to 100's of campers! No hot water to wash up and if your in the shower and someone uses outside tap the heat fluctuates and you end up getting scolded ! Facilities or nil no onsite shop apart from big outlet aimed at passing trade . Booked this site so my children would have something to do but everything either costs a fortune or shuts before 5pm went on bumper boats £2 for less than 3 minute . Park consists of a swing such a disappointing experience.

Easy access with plenty of room on our old orchard pitch, Handy clean and safe playing areas for the grandchildren, We were close to the Old barn which is being fitted out, Just one shower in that area at the moment but that is massive and all new
The Old Barn also has a large indoor washing up area with three sinks, There is also additional showers etc to the rear of the cafe with toilets as well,We did find additional w/c/showers on the original site but did not need to use them as they were a distance away from our pitch,
The cafe was clean and tidy and well staffed, We only had drinks & snacks but all were good and reasonable prices, The main meals looked very good and again not overpriced.

    Disliked:

quite a distance for w/c cassette point for emptying,

    Location.

    Disliked:

Pitches underwater for 2 days as well as awnings and electric cables ! Children's facilities very poor with ONE swing and 3 dilapated play huts. Boats, racing cars and Wildlife Park all have to be paid for. Play Barn non existant as currently a building site whilst installing ONE extra shower! The two toilets and two showers were usually in a disgusting state with no paper towels and very little paper - need to be cleaned more than once a day with 22 pitches in total.
Washing up sink didn't appear to have been cleaned at all in the 10 days we were there and is cold water only. Will not be returning as expect more for £29.50 a night!

Friendly staff. Clean and tidy site. Activities for children.

    Disliked:

The cafe was closed early so if you came back from a day out you had to get ready and go elsewhere for something to eat. Although we enjoyed our stay we thought that the site could benefit a bar with family entertainment.

The old family style camping holidays where the kids played ... 15/08/2017

  • Liked:

The old family style camping holidays where the kids played and the adults drank wine together and all family members could relax in a secure setting. The other campers made this an enjoyable stay and seeing the peacock, who had just shed one of his feathers! The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the food in the café really reasonable and very tasty! Great kids play area in the café, which my daughter enjoyed immensely and the only way to pass the incredibly long rainy day! I'm afraid I cannot comment on the animal park as it was too wet.

    Disliked:

The place has a unloved look, which didn't help when the café and bargain (not) basement shop closed and it turned into a ghost town, which actually was a pro. Everything needed a good clean in the corners and a lick of paint to make it far more appealing. At least it was something to do when the beach was not an option in the pouring rain and unable to move the campervan, an open air bus trip a miserable thought. The rain was obviously was not the owner's fault, but drainage was an issue in our spot and we were surrounded by a lake! At least we were off the ground in the van. Others with awnings were not so lucky! This does need to be addressed considering the inclement summers we experience these days.

Park was clean and had good facilities. Shop and cafe well stocked and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. The kids loved the cars and boats.

    Disliked:

The only criticism I can offer is that the park needs a better safe play area for younger children.

Local attractions

Go coastwards to reach Bridlington and its Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve with over 200,000 chattering seabirds or have a more serene time sampling the town’s famous shellfish; get gothic in Whitby or amuse yourself at the funfair in Filey, where there’s another bird garden and animal park if the one at Park Rose has given the kids the beasties bug. For beachcombers, the main beach at Bridlington also has a land train, the Bridlington Eye and waxworks at the Beside The Seaside Experience Museum; the quieter Fraisthorpe Beach lies to the south of Bridlington and is dog-friendly all year round.

A few more miles along the coast lies North Yorkshire’s seaside capital Scarborough, where it’s not all seaside amusements and kiss-me-quick hats: there’s the Rotunda Museum for geology rockers, Britain’s last remaining seaside orchestra and the biggest open-air theatre in Europe for music gigs.

Head inland from here for the North York Moors, one of the biggest stretches of heather moorland in the country: explore by bike, on foot or from the North York Moors Railway which puffs through 18 miles of spectacular scenery. The market town of Pickering is on the line and is worth a stop for a potter around the thirteenth century Pickering Castle, or get off at Goathland for a hike around Heartbeat country.

The historic city of York is around an hour’s drive from Bridlington and is crammed with things to do for all ages: the biggest gothic cathedral in northern Europe and the former prison site at York Castle Museum are two must-sees, or take it easy and have an amble around the medieval city walls. Historical highlights closer to home include the Elizabethan Burton Agnes Hall, ‘the perfect English house’, and Bridlington’s Sewerby Hall and Gardens with its zoo, woodland walks and land trains running along the cliff top to Limekiln Lane.

Feeling arty? Follow the Hockney Trail of Bridlington artist David Hockney, which covers the inspiration for over twenty of his pieces from Warter and through the Yorkshire Wolds to Bridlington. There’s an art gallery in the Spa Royal Hall in the town as well as a couple of private galleries if this inspires you to buy your own piece, with public art galleries also at Scarborough, York and Harrogate.

For kid-friendly fare, Bridlington and the surrounding areas are well-placed for family days out, with beaches, play centres and farms among more; take a trip to Dalby Forest for the day for some orienteering or swinging among the trees at Go Ape! Theme parks in the area include the knuckle-clenching rides and extensive zoo at Malton’s Flamingo Land, swashbuckling and raptor attacks at Ripon’s Lightwater Valley, and more birds of prey at Thirsk’s Sion Hill Hall.
