Greengrass Park: Segregated pitch.

General

  • Quiet, relaxed site on 35 acres of land with a private 15-acre lake
  • A 20-minute drive to the Yorkshire coast and half an hour to Hull
  • Pizzeria restaurant, wifi, fishing and bar with an outdoor terrace

Get to Greengrass Park for a peaceful break in East Yorkshire countryside – this static holiday home and touring caravan site has noise and safety policies in place to keep its ambience serene.

The quiet vibes mean that it’s a calm setting for a spot of fishing at the 15-acre private lake. Non-anglers, meanwhile, can sprawl out in a grassy area for a bit of a chillout session or make a beeline for nearby coastal towns like Hornsea (20 minutes’ drive) and Bridlington (half an hour). Heading to Hull (30 minutes) for the shopping, museums and aquarium also comes much recommended.

Pick up essentials in Brandesburton and Leven, a couple of villages around three miles away with supermarkets, a butcher and a deli. For meals, your options include a Chinese takeaway and restaurant, an award-winning fish ‘n’ chip shop and friendly pubs.

Not that you’ll need to go far for food: the site has a restaurant and pizzeria as well as a pub serving ales, draught beers, spirits and wines with an open-air terrace looking out across the lake.

There’s also free wifi – fab for figuring out which attractions to amble around in the local area.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

No charcoal barbecues allowed.

A cable measuring at least 10 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

There is no reception on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Please note that the on-site club facilities are open between Thursday and Sunday in the peak season and on Friday and Saturday only in the off-peak season.

Broke down on the way had to wait for the aa was phoning the park nonstop to say we'd be a little late no answer everytime we phoned the number by the time the aa arrived was quarter past 7 still trying to phone the park arrived at 7.30 completely dark no one about at all so had to find another place to stay. Continued to phone all day the next day to find out where everybody was and still no answer on the phone very disappointed and lost our money surely someone should be managing the phones in case of an emergency

From the manager...

As per terms and conditions no refunds which you will have seen and agreed to upon booking, if arrived late you would have gone to reception to try book in, If the office was closed there is a phone number on the door to phone for late bookings and a 24hr number to ring, I have checked our CCTV at 7.30pm and you didn't arrive on the park at that time either.

Local attractions

Browse Beverley’s traditional market on a Saturday or swing by this town at any time to take in the Gothic minster and catch the horses hightailing it around the racecourse (20 minutes’ drive). It’s also worth setting off towards Skirlington Leisure Park for the famed car boot sale held on Sundays (outside of January) and to stroll through 70 acres of landscaped countryside leading down to the East Yorkshire coast.

Further north (around an hour) is the edge of the North York Moors National Park, where rural police show Heartbeat was filmed, and the location of well-known seaside towns such as Scarborough and Whitby (an hour and an hour and a half, respectively). Spend time on the former's sandy beaches before roaming the ruined Gothic abbey – the inspiration for the novel Dracula – in the latter.

Another famed urban settlement not to miss is the ancient city of York (an hour and 10 minutes) with its cobbled streets, Viking history and clutch of excellent independent boutiques. Walk along ancient walls circling the buildings, poke around a 13th-century Gothic cathedral with medieval stained glass and bell towers, then meander to the Monk Bar gate for an exhibition on the infamous King Richard III.

Must see

  • Burton Agnes Hall (8.6 miles)
  • Ferens Art Gallery (12.9 miles)
  • The Deep (13.2 miles)

National Trust

  • Maister House (12.9 miles)
  • Bridestones, Crosscliff and Blakey Topping (28.5 miles)
