General

  • Friendly and relaxed farm site two miles from Beverley town centre
  • On a footpath and cycle network
  • Well-maintained amenities, bike storage and barbecue/firepit hire

No ifs and no butts, this is a smashing little site.

It's a small farm a couple of miles from the old town of Beverley, in a spiffing setting to use as a base for days out around East Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Wolds, the Yorkshire coast, York and Hull, and set on a footpath and cycle network so you can get straight out into the surrounding countryside. And we reckon you'll approve of the spankingly clean amenities too.

Butt Farm is a working family-run farm, with wide open views of the East Yorkshire countryside. It's a newish site but owners Jen and Oly have already set it up to include several little extra touches, like barbecue and firepit hire, secure bike storage, recycling facilities and an undercover utility room with sinks and free hot water for washing up.

And then – the amenities. Butt Farm has new – and heated – ladies' and gents' washrooms and showers, in a modern facilities and amenities block converted from old farm buildings and fuelled by a renewable biomass boiler. Electric shaver points are available.

For supplies, Beverley is less than ten minutes away by car, or you could take a bus from the stop a short stroll from the site (or cycle: one of the surrounding paths leads straight into town). A supermarket with petrol station is less than a mile away, and takeaways, pubs and restaurants are all within two miles.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Thanks very much for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Unfortunately we have to charge extra for electric as we have to pay for the electric on the site and many campers do not require this as an extra.

    Everything!!
Wonderful level site and lovely position if you like walking. We arrived late Friday to find our name and pitch number posted at the entrance. Nice small field so not far to very small amenity block. Only two toilets and two showers each but that wasnt really a problem. Parents with children beware there are high voltage power lines running overhead so no kite flying is allowed. Olly came and introduced himself Saturday morning and is a smashing fella. Eggs and cakes for sale with an honesty box. We will be back!!

Excellent site, great location, big pitches and plenty of space 31/07/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Andrew A. Confirmed

  • Liked:

Campsite is well laid out and maintained. Big pitches so plenty of room for large tents.
The facilities are excellent - the toilet and shower block looked brand new and there is the option of hiring fire pits on and evening.
The location is close to a Morrisons and Beverley town centre and you can also walk across the fields to the village of Walkington (approx two miles) where there are three pubs, two of which serve food.

    Disliked:

Nothing really to dislike. There were only two sinks in the utility room so that might get a bit busy when the site is full but we didn't have any problems.

Everything about this site is amazing. The facilities are excellent and spotless. The owner is very helpful and has really good advise on the area.
If you've forgotten anything there is a Morrisons, Poundworld and Halfords within a ten minute walk. Its hard to believe civilisation is so close though, as on the campsite you are surrounded by countryside.
You can hire fire pits and or BBQ's. There is plenty of hot water to wash up and shower run from renewable energy, so very green too.
Fresh eggs and cakes can be purchased, there is an honesty box for these.
I can't recomme3nd this campsite enough, it would be perfect for people new to camping to give it a go.

Great place to stay, the staff couldn't do more for us, even going the extra mile washing our little one's clothes and bedding when she was ill. Olly even helped our neighbours put their tent up as they were camping virgins.

Good flat pitches with good shower/washroom facilities.

Great location, with a cycle path all the way into Beverley and local routes which the staff are happy to tell you about.

Local attractions

Get hither to the Yorkshire coast, the Yorkshire countryside, the Yorkshire Wolds, cities like York and Lincoln, or to venture further afield via the P&O ferry port at Hull ten miles away.

But to Beverley first. It's a bit of a beaut, with cobbled streets and a magnif minster, piles of old buildings, markets and music fests, and the chance to see geegees at Beverley Racecourse. Market days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays: if you're off to buy some bits, have a tipple afterwards in one of Beverley's 40 or so pubs. (One, the Sun Inn, dates back to the sixteenth century. We're just saying.)

You can also get to Hull city centre within eight miles, Humber Bridge in nine, Driffield in 15 and the seaside town of Bridlington in 25. A bit further away but within a decent distance for day trips are York (30 miles), Lincoln (50 miles) and Leeds, 60 miles from Butt Farm.

Must see

  • Ferens Art Gallery (6.8 miles)
  • The Deep (7.3 miles)
  • Far Ings National Nature Reserve (8.9 miles)

National Trust

  • Maister House (7.0 miles)
  • Treasurer's House (27.7 miles)
