  • Small, secluded back-to-basics farm site with a nature pond
  • A 10-minute drive from Halesworth; 20 minutes from Southwold
  • Play area and shared fridge freezer; friendly pub five minutes’ walk
Sunnyside Campsite is a peaceful one-acre site with spacious grassy pitches surrounded by ash trees and hawthorn bushes. This small-scale meadow is also easily accessible by public transport – Brampton station is a 10-minute cycle or 30-minute walk from base. This fab farm site has a nature pond, kids' play area and a tumbledown old stable that houses the spick and span toilets and water point. Other handy facilities here include a washing-up point and use of a shared fridge freezer. Campfires and barbecues are allowed (as long as they're raised off the ground). Firepits are available to hire on site, and logs and charcoal can also be bought from the little honesty shop. Fish suppers are on the cards on Thursdays, when fresh local seafood is sold from a visiting van. Sunnyside Campsite is in a prime location for cyclists, who can set out on long or short-distance pedals along National Cycle Route 1 that passes at the end of the lane. Walkers and folk who like messing around in boats also have lots of options here – the Suffolk coastline can be reached in under 20 minutes' drive, while the Norfolk Broads are under a half hour away. The site is a few minutes' stroll from a friendly community pub and a village play area. Cafés, restaurants and a larger supermarket are all in Halesworth (10 minutes' drive).

Sunny electric grass pitch

Liked The calm atmosphere
Friendly hosts
Lots of walks around
Lots of birds like swallows and green woodpeckers

Disliked No hot water for washing up
Limited water for showers

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks very much for staying and for your review.

Please tell us when you are here if you find an issue, otherwise we are unaware and cannot help!

We can put the immersion heater on if more hot water is required.

The only limit on the shower is 7 minutes for £1. You can add more if necessary..

We do not impose any limits on water usage but an awareness of the need to conserve water at this time of extreme drought is very much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Sally 🌞

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked A little gem and most people return like us. Sally the owner couldn't be nicer. Chickens running around and a beautiful setting. We were allowed to BBQ subject to taking sensible precautions like wetting the grass.
We will be returning next year as we love the site and the area.

Disliked No real dislikes, but if someone flushes the toilet when you are showering the pressure drops and the shower goes cold.
So little to put up with for such a lovely site and not even worth dropping a star for

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Returning guests are very special! We loved having you here again! Thank you for your kind review.

Thanks also for over looking the low water pressure and rustic shower (it’s the very best we can do!)

I’ve come to realise that it’s more about having the right people - like you.. People who enjoy the important things that really matter .. like the environment, nature, community, wildlife, kindness, sharing, respectfulness, having real experiences…

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best wishes,
Sally & Richard 🌞

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great atmosphere, tidy campsite and friendly chickens! They have a fab set-up with hammocks in the forest and a decent old school swing set, we will definitely be returning. We also had a visit from the ice cream van!

Disliked Early-rising farmers in the neighbouring field!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Glad you enjoyed your stay!

We are completely surrounded by agricultural land and although harvest is an exciting time it is dusty and noisy for us all!

Hope you’ll come back again when it is not harvest time!

Best wishes,
Sally & Richard 🌞

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Brilliant for family camping. The girls had an amazing time exploring the play area and wooded area. The free range chickens were a hit too.
The availability of a fridge and freezer really makes the stay that much more comfortable and practical.
Lovely small campsite, very clean and well run.

Disliked Shower was ok but as highlighted, pressure and temperature consistency is hit and miss, which is particularly frustrating trying to wash the younger children.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The size of Sunnyside is perfect - not too big and the layout of pitches means that you have plenty of space. Owner was a lovely lady, facilities are all well maintained and clean, and we found this to be a great location for day trips around Suffolk. The community-run pub is an easy 10 min walk away and the surrounding scenery is lovely.

Disliked Nothing - this was exactly what we were looking for. The site only has one shower which we thought would be problematic but actually it was fine.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hey! Glad to hear that the one little shower was enough - even at a busy peak season, when we are fully booked! 👍

Thank you for staying and for appreciating what we have to offer.

Hope to see you again soon!

Ps re your rating 6/10 for value for money..

We hope our guests understand that because are so small we can’t compete with the prices of ‘just a field with no facilities’ or big commercial sites unfortunately.

We price per pitch which includes two people. If you are a single person it will be less cost effective for you.

However if you are a single camper (with no vehicle) we will give you 10% off (a free shower/£1) - please do enquire on arrival!

Also it is mid peak season now.. Our prices are a little bit cheaper per night in early and late season - In May/June/Sept or October, so you might wish to come camping then?

The current non peak prices are just £20 per pitch - working out at £10 per person per night. And £25 per night or £12.50 each (for two people at peak season. * price may change next year!

We understand we are more than a budget site, but hope that the low density, quiet and friendly site that we offer is well worth it!

Plus there are all the optional extras such as free tea/coffee/squash, an electric kettle, free charge points, fridge/freezers, washing up liquid, lovely ‘faith in nature’ hand soaps, hot water, a library, local maps & info, table tennis & outdoor games, hammocks, recycling & rubbish disposal, delicious food offerings at weekends (homemade cake, breakfast baps, monthly pizza nights) and a convenient and well stocked on site ‘honesty’ shop.

We really do appreciate our customers support and work really hard to ensure our prices are affordable. We think that what we offer here at Sunnyside Campsite is actually something very special and unique.

So yes, we are not the cheapest, but I do think we are very good value for money!

Many thanks! 🥰

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Friendly, big open green space and not on top of other pitches, quiet spot in countryside, lovely little shop, kettle with free teas & coffee - perfect for the tent users and cyclists with minimal equipment, super friendly, kids play area and fridge/freezer space fee to use. Loved the super friendly chickens who came to say hello every day.

From the manager: Fantastic! Thank you so much for your lovely words and for making the most of your stay at Sunnyside Campsite.

Please come back soon!

Local attractions

The sandy beach at Southwold (20 minutes) is dominated by the white bulk of the 19th-century Southwold Lighthouse and lined by colourful wooden huts. Stroll along the long pier, stopping for ice cream or fish and chips, then head into town and the Southwold Museum for a primer on local history. With their reed-lined ponds and shallow lagoons, the marshes of RSPB Minsmere (30 minutes) are home to avocets, curlews and marsh harriers – plus the occasional (but elusive) otter. Just up the coast from there, National Trust - Dunwich Heath and Beach becomes a colourful riot of purple heather in the summer. The tall spire of the cathedral in Norwich (45 minutes) is visible from far and wide. Explore the interior of this splendid 11th-century church, strolling through the cloisters and the choir, where (if you’re lucky) you might meet Budge, the cathedral cat. The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell explores the history of the area.
