  • Accessible facilities; Wrentham café, pub and shop five minutes’ drive
Seeking a peaceful Suffolk sojourn? At Henstead Fields Caravan and Campsite, you’re in the right spot for family fun (dogs included), local walks, scenic cycle rides or chilling on a North Sea beach – the closest is Kessingland, barely 10 minutes’ drive away, while the pretty seaside town of Southwold is 15 minutes by car. This family-run site is on the outskirts of Henstead village in North Suffolk; you can pitch up or park up on the camping field with plenty of space around you for privacy. Amenities include a disabled toilet and shower alongside separate male and female facilities, plus a washing-up area where pitch allocations are displayed. The field has more than enough green space for games with family and friends, but just keep an eye open for uneven ground while you’re running around. It’s also very rural, so you have the resident owls, muntjacs and pheasants for company – and on clear nights, the stars put on a spectacular display. As for catering, barbecues are allowed on site; there’s a convenience store and deli five minutes’ drive away in Wrentham if you need to buy in supplies. When you can’t face cooking, there’s also a café and pub in the village, and takeaways can be delivered to your pitch.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Just returned from a short trip to the top of Suffolk, where we pitched up at this lovely little campsite. It was perfect for us, the pitches were huge, you could easily get two tents on them, good if you were with your family or friends. The facilities were clean and tidy, the washing up sinks were under cover and the whole site was flat with nicely cut grass. The pre sent information was excellent, giving places to visit and local food stores and eateries. There was plenty of room for the children to ride their bikes and play on a large grassy area for ball games etc. Callum met use on our arrival and popped over to see us on our departure, he was a really nice chap, sadly we didn’t meet Sarah. We would definitely use the site again if we are the area. Thank you C & S and good luck for the future.

Liked It’s a lovely sight not to big we were sent a message and a video a few days before arivial giving us our pitch number and instructions how to use the electric hook up point

Disliked We felt the toilet facilities were not adequate for the potential number of visitors Ie just one shower and one toilet for male and female and one family disabled shower which had nowhere for someone to sit whilst getting changed the shower cubicle in the gents section definitely not suitable for gentlemen of a a larger statue

We're pleased to hear that you found the pre-arrival information helpful and that the pitch allocation and electric hook-up instructions made your arrival straightforward. We do try to make everything as easy and flexible as possible. We do have 2 toilets which men can use and three toilets which females can use in total. We also hire in a portable toilet for the the end of July/August period when things are a busier. Have a lovely summer, Sarah and Callum.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely big pitch with nice tall grass division so not too close to neighbours. A real feeling of space. Toilets and showers were spotless. The site was peaceful- nothing but bird song. The dogs loved the dog run. Callum was very welcoming and helpful. Communication beforehand from Sarah was great and arrival info really clear. We will definitely be back-maybe in our new van!

Disliked Nothing. if had to pick something the hot water was REALLY hot. If the site were full there could be a bit of a queue for the washing facilities but it wasn't so...

From the manager: Hi Catherine, thank you for leaving us a review :) We're really please that you enjoyed your stay and we hope that we can welcome you back another time. We've turned the thermostat down a little too! During late July and August we do hire in an additional porta loo just to reduce any queuing although last year it was barely used. Have a lovely summer, Sarah and Callum.

Local attractions

There’s bags going on for the whole family in lively Southwold (15 minutes’ drive); you can take high-speed boat rides around the North Sea coastline, discover the amusements along the famed pier, or have a potter around the old harbour. Adnams Brewery is open for guided tours and tastings of its wares, and also offers the chance to explore the landmark lighthouse that dominates the town. If you’re into high-octane action, try skydiving at Ellough (10 minutes) but if that sounds a bit scary, book hacks at the local riding school (five minutes) or make for Oulton Broad (15 minutes) for kayaking and sailing. You can also go paddleboarding along the River Waveney from Beccles (15 minutes). Get (quite) up close and personal with Big Five animals like lions and rhinos at Africa Alive (10 minutes), or sneak a bit of history into your kids with visits to Framlingham Castle (40 minutes) and the eccentric Tudor-era Orford Tower (45 minutes). If your offspring are still game on for more culture, Somerleyton Hall (half an hour) has colourful landscaped gardens and impressive Victorian architecture.
