  • Well-maintained, landscaped adults-only park near Polstead in Suffolk
  • A 20-minute drive to Lavenham, and 25 minutes to Ipswich Waterfront
  • Essentials shop on site; food pub five minutes’ walk away
Its rural location on the edge of a Suffolk conservation area ensures visitors to Polstead Country Park have plenty to do during their stay. The pretty village of Polstead is five minutes’ drive away, and walkers have access to a network of footpaths from there, taking in ancient woodland scattered with bluebells in spring, while overnighting cyclists can pick on the South Suffolk Cycle Route with a 10-minute ride from the park. If you've brought the car, your options widen even further – animal parks, stately homes and beaches are all within half an hour’s drive. Landscaped with flowers, neat hedges and shady mature trees, the pitches at this adults-only site are generously sized and immaculately maintained. Spotless modern facilities include shower facilities with underfloor heating and a dedicated accessible bathroom, while washing-up sinks and a laundry area make it easy to keep everyone and everything looking shipshape. The friendly staff at reception can let you have all sorts of information on the local area and places to visit, and there’s also a small site shop stocked with essentials. If you fancy a break from cooking, there’s a foodie pub within five minutes’ walk and other options in Polstead village.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Nice quiet sight situated well fir visiting quaint little villages

Disliked Pitches need serious attention as the grass surrounding the gravel on hardstanding has overgrown which does not leave any gravel area to walk on especially with all the rain we’ve had making the grass area really muddy so trekking into the van which is not great. I used our own shower but the wife remarked that she had to keep hitting the shower button plus the shower was not hot.

Liked It was only a short trip to check a water leek but, never the less, a pleasant stay. The shower and toilets were very clean and the disposal points excellent. We walked to the Brewers and enjoyed their carvery.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Site was clean, quiet and well kept, lovely clean showers, nice pitches, owners were very helpful and informative as soon as we arrived always checking we were ok,we had rain which made it muddy on roads (no fault of the site )but it would be more lovely in summer or dry weather, will definitely return hopefully in the sun !!, local area information in reception was helpful ,as was a few essential items as no shops nearby very handy if you run out of teabags!!

Disliked Walk to main Rd for the brewers arms pub could do with a footpath, had to walk on rd and as we were there in rain it was very muddy so got dirty which was nothing to do with the site but just a suggestion for the council, didn't like the stones they were noisy to walk on [worried about disturbing others if it was early]and not easy to walk the dog on as she hurt her paws being a little dog

From the manager: Thank you so much Tracey for such great feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back when the weather is sunny and dry!

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked quiet, level, individual pitches, great welcome and then were left to enjoy our stay, warden/ owner at the end of the phone, ressonably priced, felt safe with all the facilities you needed and a warm toilet block.dog walk area.

Disliked it would be great if the dog area was all fenced to let them off to have a little run arround.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Duncan for taking time to leave a review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Unfortunately, we don't have space anywhere on the park which is big enough to fence off just for dogs but there are lots of walks from the park where dogs can be off lead.

Local attractions

Pretty Suffolk villages to explore include Kersey (five minutes’ drive) with its half-timbered houses and thatched cottages, while Lavenham (20 minutes) has a stunning guildhall and fine 14th-century church. For a bit of a date night, Ipswich (25 minutes) has lots of bars and restaurants along its lively waterfront, as well as a theatre and cinema. There are pretty country yomps along the River Stour to Flatford Mill (25 minutes) and Dedham Vale National Landscape (20 minutes) in Constable Country. You can see another artist’s house on the walking trail from National Trust-owned Melford Hall (20 minutes) to Sudbury (15 minutes), which takes in three old water mills and Thomas Gainsborough’s house en route. Looking for animal encounters on your rural break? Feed lambs (in season), groom horses and cuddle up to friendly donkeys at Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, or get up close to the reptiles, creepy crawlies and butterflies at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park (both half an hour). Or how about touring a couple of local vineyards? Giffords Hall (half an hour) and Burnt House (45 minutes) are both open for tours and tastings – it’s best to book in advance.
