General

  • Award-winning site with Suffolk sea views and direct access to a beach
  • A mile from Lowestoft and easy access to the Broads
  • Heated pool, clubhouse, playground and free wifi

Spectacular Suffolk sea views are the order of the day at award-winning Pakefield Caravan Park, set on the coast a mile or so from Lowestoft.

This peaceful place also has direct access to a sand and shingle beach, and is a short drive through scenic countryside to the splendid Norfolk Broads, home of long waterways, lazy days on boats, wildlife of all sorts and pubs and villages aplenty along the way.

Pets are welcome on site and there are some fab coastal and countryside walks straight from the park as well as a dog-friendly beach nearby.

Away from the coast, the Broads, the bike rides and the boat trips, there's plenty to do on site too, including an outdoor heated pool, a playground and a clubhouse with seasonal family entertainment. Free wifi is available.

Among the well-kept amenities here are a toilet and shower block, a parent and baby washroom and a launderette.

This site is a member of Coastdale Parks group.

Nice, quiet site with clean facilities, level pitches. 02/09/2017

The space for the pitch & how quiet it was. Easy access to the lovely beach.

    Disliked:

Didn't dislike anything really. Although the 'shop' could have a few more items & the taps in the toilet block could stay running a little longer so you can wash your hands.

Very enjoyable holiday on a good site with helpful staff 24/08/2017

  • Liked:

Lovely site, well laid out, peaceful and quiet. Good access to beach, local pubs and chippy, local Morrisons and McDonalds(5-10min walk). Decent swimming pool outdoors and heated. Pool and table tennis in the club to keep the kids entertained. Helpful staff, clean shower block(regularly serviced). Nice sized pitches in attractive green surroundings.

    Disliked:

Could do with a rubbish enclosure on the touring site near the shower block, no re-cycling as far as I could tell, just skips. Longer swimming pool hours in peak summer would be good (closes at 5pm). Limited shower block facilities - one small shower and one toilet cubicle not really sufficient (gents) The block is nice and clean but seems flimsy like a converted portacabin.

Great family holiday on this lovely site 12/08/2017

Very friendly greeting from the main reception , was given loads of information for the area . Pitches we're great sizes and very clean . Very clean and tidy shower blocks. Club house staff very friendly and happy all the time , made us feel very welcome (Geordies on tour)
Nice little touring side of only 12 pitches .
Pool was great for the kids and we even had a couple of swims (nice and warm ) . Great surrounding area for loads to do and really good recommendations on bites to eat at the odd feller with home made food and the jolly sailor right on the sea front for food was lovely to sit and watch the world go by.
Great walk right along the beach front to lowerstoff . (Around 1.6miles)
Statics galore and even took away info as they rent out them too , hope to be back in the future doing it static style .
Laudry was great £4.20 for a wash and £1.50 for a dryer and a refundable £5 deposit for the iron as used twice . (Also very well kept and clean) .
Very clean and tidy campsite overall !

    Disliked:

Although very clean and tidy and for 12 touring pitches only 1 shower and 2 toilets in ladies , 1 shower , 1 toilet 2 urinals in the gents .... so queuing was an Issue .
Need to have closer refuge for touring side as had to walk in the middle of static side of caravans or by the reception .

Well run and clean site; just needs coming to life a bit more. 07/08/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Andrea G. Confirmed

  • Gold 3 bedroom static caravan
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

The caravan was very well equipped, comfortable, spacious and clean.
The site looks very well maintained and is only a couple of minutes walk from the beach.

    Disliked:

Lack of activities on offer. The site is very much set up for static caravan owners.
It is very quiet. It lacks the typical buzz of a holiday camp.
To attract family with children, maybe provide a place were people of all ages can play table tennis, table football, trampoline, organise BBQ events ... etc.
The clubhouse was okay and again, entertainment is aimed at the static caravan owners: a lot of Bingo evenings.
The toilets at the pool need sorting. Ladies' toilet was dirty and covered with spiders.

Lovely site, well maintained! Short walk to a quiet beach ideal for building sand castles. Short walk into Pakefield for local shops or walk along the cliff tops to venture into Lowestoft.

    Disliked:

Only slight complaint was the children's play area, more for the older child, my 4 year old struggled with rope climbing for the slide

Excellent site with friendly staff, good facilities in a good location 01/08/2017

  • Liked:

Good location. Site clean and tidy. Good welcome at reception. Pitch was allocated before arrival. Entertainment and staff at the club were good. Swimming pool was tidy and clean.

    Disliked:

not so much disliked but here are some ideas for improvement.

Having to site the caravan with jockey wheel on the slab means that we had a muddy patch right outside the caravan door. There was enough space to pitch 2 metres to one side and save the wear on the pitch.

The play area would be better if there were more things for younger children.

Dogs are allowed even in clubhouse

    Disliked:

You need a code to use the loos and showers, at night you will need a touch because there is so little light around the locks. The disabled loo and shower needs a different code but again you will need a touch to be able to input it. The disabled loo and shower is not very well ventalted so it's wet in there, walls, ceiling the lot.

Local attractions

Amble around the coast or venture inland for wildlife watching, boating and family days out from here, all within a stroll or short drive.

The seaside resort of Lowestoft is the closest to Pakefield and home to a famed lighthouse (Gulliver), a museum and access to Ness Point, the UK's most eastern spot.

Southwold and its beach huts is a short drive away along the coast, as is Great Yarmouth, with handsome beaches, an aquarium and funfair. The scenic sands of Dunwich and Aldeburgh are also well worth a beach-based wander.

Inland, the Pakefield team recommends the preserved medieval wool towns of Lavenham and Clare, a swing among the trees, zipwires and bridges of Go Ape! in Brandon and an eagle-eyed look at the giraffes, cheetahs, rhinos, lions and much more of safari park Africa Alive! in Kessingland on the Suffolk coast. Adventure park BeWILDerwood, just outside Great Yarmouth, is another top option for a family day out.

Around the Norfolk Broads Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, go for a wildlife-spotting boat trip or take a puff on the Bure Valley Railway, running for 18 miles from Wroxham to Aylsham.

Must see

  • Somerleyton Hall and Gardens (5.6 miles)
  • Fritton Lake Country World (7.4 miles)
  • Pleasure Beach (10.2 miles)
