General
- Spacious pitches on a 320-acre site on the outskirts of Ipswich
- A 15-minute drive to the Suffolk coast; 20 minutes to Sutton Hoo
- Dog-friendly pitches with electric hookup and picnic table
Aiming to bag a bargain place to stay in Ipswich? Perhaps looking to mix up a fresh-air break with some town time? Either way, Trinity Park Camping makes a fine choice for an outdoor break – this parkland site may be most famous for being the location of the annual Suffolk Show, but it’s a fab spot to settle in at any time for breaks that combine town, country and coast time.
The location is a real winner here: a 10-minute drive from either the A12 or A14 brings you to this site on the outskirts of Ipswich; it’ll also take you about 10 minutes to get into the town centre if you need shops, restaurants or other urban amenities. Turn your sights in a different direction and you can get to the Suffolk coast in about 15 minutes or head for historic Sutton Hoo in about 20 minutes.
That’s not to say that they’re relying on the location alone here – there’s plenty more going for this privately owned 320-acre site. Pitches are pleasingly spacious, and each one has its own electric hookup and picnic table; a short walk from the pitches is a permanent amenities block with toilets and showers, including disabled facilities. There's wifi on site too, and plenty of space to take a family bike ride or walk the dog.

Local attractions
Starting off in Ipswich? The riverside town has a lovely waterfront to explore, a couple of great theatres and some intriguing museums (the collection of old vehicles at the Museum of Transport is a perennial favourite with all ages).
To the coast next perhaps? It’s a 15-minute drive to Felixstowe beach, or around 35 minutes to either Aldeburgh or Thorpeness. The excellent pier at Southwold is 45 minutes away, as is Walberswick, a popular spot for crabbing. You may be able to take paddles or swims from any of these, but for more extensive watersports you’ll want to head to Alton Water (20 minutes’ drive).
For history-themed ambles, try the likes of the Anglo-Saxon Sutton Hoo (20 minutes), 12th-century Framlingham Castle (half an hour) and the splendid rotunda at Ickworth House (45 minutes). If the kids prefer animal encounters, make a trip to Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park (15 minutes), Easton Farm Park (25 minutes) or the big beasts of Africa Alive! (an hour).

Hi Justin
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear you had electric issues. I had the emergency contact telephone on my person all weekend and didn't receive any calls with regards to issues, we do encourage guests to get in touch if they have any issues as we have an estates manager who lives just off site.
Our campsite description states we are a pop - up campsite, located within the Suffolk Showground. It is a secure site and is locked up each night when other events aren't taking place. Only campers and staff have access to this code and we change it regularly for the safety and security of our site.
