  • Well-maintained and green site five miles from the Suffolk coast
  • Lake and nature trail on site
  • On-site village shop and off-licence; pub 10 minutes' walk away
Travel five miles inland from the sunny Suffolk coastline and you’ll arrive at this little gem on the outskirts of Wenhaston. The gorgeous, well-maintained grounds at this smart site are just part of the attention to detail all around the park, which has been carefully laid out by the friendly and helpful owners. There's greenery all around here: this small and pretty site has its own nature trail and lake, and is surrounded by acres of countryside for hikes and rambles. If walking isn't your thing, hire bikes from the Southwold Bike Centre (20 minutes' drive away) to pedal around the flats of Suffolk; horse riding's pretty popular in the area too, or you could go golfing at Halesworth Golf Club five minutes' drive away. Taking things (much easier), the local pub is a 10-minute walk down the road. Heathside Caravans has a village shop and an off-licence on site for those holiday essentials, and a well-maintained shower block for guests' use. For more supplies. the village of Halesworth is under 15 minutes' drive away and Aldeburgh, Snape and Beccles are all within half an hour.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained, clean, and peaceful campsite with spacious pitches and friendly staff. Guests praise the extensive grounds for children and dogs, the on-site shop, and the proximity to local attractions and pubs. Glamping pods and shepherd's huts are generally well-equipped and comfortable, though some mention mattress firmness. Recurring points include limited toilet/shower facilities during peak times, and occasionally unreliable Wi-Fi. Overall, a highly recommended site for a relaxing break.

Liked Really generous sized pitches, plenty of privacy between pitches with bushes and trees also offering shade. Facilities were great, clean and tidy. Like many reviews, the toilet block wasn’t massive but didn’t have to once wait for anything so not an issue at all. Shop was really well priced and well stocked too considering it’s an onsite shop. Lovely big area for children to play as well. Can’t wait to book again.

Disliked Nothing - great site and great value.

Glamping Pod

Liked The scenery and setting of the establishment. It was set back in quite a quiet country road, very little traffic. The grounds were relatively well kept. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The mattress was surprisingly comfortable. The temperature of both the tap and shower were fantastic. And a lovely view from our cabin. The room was spotless for the most part, except the mirror was slightly oily and dirty.

Disliked While I'm trying not to be nitpicky there were a number of issues with the cabin itself that may just be an isolated issue. We stayed in cabin 9 for context. So, the toilet seat was already loose when we arrived and broken off of one of the attachments. The door to the bathroom, despite having a lock, didn't lock. The door to the cabin whilst did lock, couldn't be left unlocked as it wouldnt remain shut, it was ajar, unless you applied great force to lock it. The blinds were filthy, with what I thought was blood stains or potentially just simple dirt marks but who's to say.

We also arrived under the pretense (as advertised) that BBQs were allowed. While I understand we're experiencing a drought and there's fear of wildfires, so a ban or apprehension towards is completely warranted. No message or notification of this was made to us until we'd arrived, checked in and was already too late. A slip of paper was on the table saying "sorry, no BBQs allowed at the moment." Like I say, whilst this is understandable, this should've been conveyed earlier than check in.

The wifi at this accommodation is non existent. You had to stand next to their wifi extender to receive just 1 bar, which quite honestly was no good. Not to mention the wifi didn't extend beyond a 3ft radius.

And one final nitpick. Yes its nature, yes its camping, but the seal on the door was non existent, there were ants parading across the floor, grass hoppers that managed to enter the room all while the door was locked and the accommodation empty.

Liked ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fantastic little getaway!
We’ve just come back from a fantastic stay at Heathside Holidays, and honestly, we couldn’t recommend it enough! ❤️
From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. Karen, the owner, is absolutely fantastic — such a lovely, friendly person who really makes you feel at home. The people working in the little shop on site were lovely too.
The site itself is beautiful, peaceful and incredibly quiet, with fantastic views and plenty of lovely walks. And the three donkeys on site were an absolute bonus — we loved seeing them! 🫏❤️
We stayed in one of the glamping pods, which was perfect for us and gave us such a lovely experience. It’s a great base for exploring the area, with so many beautiful places within around 15–20 minutes' drive through gorgeous country roads.
There’s a local pub about a 10-minute walk away. The food was nice, although the menu was quite limited.
And the beaches and surrounding villages are absolutely gorgeous! Dunwich became my favourite — not only because of the beautiful beach, but because of the amazing history behind this little village. ❤️ Southwold is also stunning, with its beautiful beach and iconic lighthouse, while Walberswick is brilliant for crabbing and the speedboat ride was AMAZING! 🚤🦀
One little warning 😂 — as soon as you leave the campsite, your phone signal and internet disappear, so make sure you remember where you're going! 😂📵
But honestly, that just added to the experience. Sometimes it’s nice to properly switch off, enjoy the surroundings and spend time together without constantly looking at your phone.
100% recommended! ❤️ We had such a fantastic time staying here and exploring everything around it. We’ll definitely be back! 🌿🫏🏕️❤️

Local attractions

After all the walking, cycling, horse riding and golfing, get stuck into the area's history at the 12th-century fortress of Framlingham Castle, half an hour's drive away. Once the refuge of Mary Tudor, this fab place now has exhibitions, themed trails and an audio tour covering its centuries of history: enough to keep young Horrible Histories fans entertained too. Arty sorts will know that Suffolk is Constable country: if this is you, come armed with camera or paintbox to snap and sketch the countryside, harbour and coastal views around the area. You could also take a trip to art complex the Snape Maltings on the Alde river, for events, activities and evening entertainment in the concert hall. Seaside? But of course. Have a stroll around Southwold and its colourful beach huts, or drive half an hour north to Lowestoft for seaside amusements and Pleasurewood Hills, a nifty tucked away theme park with rollercoasters and attractions for all. Walberswick beach, around a 15-minute drive from Heathside, is a popular spot for crabbing. If you’re staying at Heathside for a while, set off early and spend the whole day on the Norfolk Broads (about an hour and 15 minutes' drive north, or drive south for around an hour and a half to the villages of Long Melford and Lavenham with their medieval timber-framed houses.
