Beautiful private haven
Little Island Retreat cabin
Liked I luckily discovered this little gem when searching for a few nights away for a solo break. I was looking for somewhere private with beautiful surroundings for some much needed R&R and this place did not disappoint. It was an absolute tonic.
There’s no catch - you really do have the surrounding area to yourself along with sole use of the bathroom and kitchenette on site. I felt completely safe with the main farmhouse only a short stretch away and a mobile number to call if there were any issues.
Rob and Gemma really have thought of everything to make the stay enjoyable. The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need. There’s even a fully charged power bank at the main site should you not wish to wait for your phone to charge.
Waking up and falling asleep to the gentle hum of nature was really calming. The geese landing at dusk each evening was a highlight.
You could happily remain on site for your full stay however I’d recommend a walk to the Black Swan at Homersfield. It has a wonderful beer garden and is next to the river.

Perfect place to get engaged.
Little Island Retreat cabin
Liked This trip now holds a special place in my heart as it is where my boyfriend now fiancé proposed 😍💍
We also loved the quietness and the fact that we had the whole area to ourselves. We loved hearing the ducks and sheep in the distance especially. Was so nice to sit on the deck and read my book while my fiancé relaxed near by. Was looking for somewhere peaceful, private and relaxing and this was exactly what we were looking for.

Nice for a couple of nights stay.
Little Island Retreat cabin
Liked Peaceful
Very clean
Good to have the option of a flushing toilet as well as the eco one.
Great place to stargaze whilst laying on the decking.
Disliked Little touches missing- no shampoo or body wash. Tea lights needed changing but they weren't etc. Just minor but it's the little things that make a difference.
It is a 'little' walk to the games room / toilet etc but it's not ideal to have to charge your phone there and then walk back and fourth as such. Bring a battery pack is my advice. Being off the grid at night is good, but when we were out exploring the next day, not having a full charge really limited us and our ventures.

The most relaxing and tranquil place ever. Great getaway from life!
Little Island Retreat cabin
Liked Stayed 3 nights at the Little Island Retreat for a little break to get away from everything. What a place, literally cannot fault anything. You have the retreat and the entire lake to yourself, with Shane and Wayne the lovely ducks to keep you company. You're a field away from the main house so you really do feel totally on your own. We were blessed with sunny weather and it was just so quiet, relaxing and tranquil. We were also allowed to take our kayaks on the lake.
The lodge itself is very comfortable with everything you need for cooking on the BBQ and sitting outside on the decking of an evening (blankets, mozzy traps, plates/pans/cutlery), lanterns, a reservoir with plenty of drinking water and a novel compost toilet. 3 minutes walk across the field takes you to the farmyard where you have you're own bathroom/washing up room with electric and hot water etc. We also had a great time playing ping pong and darts in the games room.
We will miss Shane and Wayne welcoming us of a morning and chilling out with us in the evenings!
Disliked There is nothing to dislike about this place

We couldn’t have asked for a…
Little Island Retreat cabin
Liked We couldn’t have asked for a better stay at Rob’s little island retreat! We were incredibly lucky with the weather so were able to make full use of the new jetty Rob had built prior to our stay. A highlight for us definitely included the friendly pair of ducks (Shayne and Wayne) whom Rob warned us were sure to steal our hearts! The setting is pure paradise as you are truly immersed in the gorgeous east Anglian countryside surrounded by ancient oak trees, you will be sure to not want to leave after a taste of this little slice of heaven!
