  • Eco glamping in a wildflower meadow on the edge of the Norfolk Broads
  • Two miles from Wroxham; Happisburgh 25 minutes' drive
  • Camp kitchen available; communal barbecue and firepit area
Wildflower Glamping is a small, rural site made up of just a handful of attractive units. Set in a peaceful wildflower meadow on the edge of the Norfolk Broads, this is an excellent base to explore eastern England's coast and hinterland under the vast Norfolk sky. Each of the accommodation units is furnished with a double bed and has great views over the field. Handy storage space and soft floor coverings are also included, while outside a private seating area is on hand to watch the sunrise and sunset or for a spot of stargazing. The camp kitchen has a small fridge-freezer, gas rings, ample tableware and utensils if you fancy self catering. When the weather makes alfresco dining an option, a communal firepit and barbecue area are a short distance away from the tents too. This is a private and secure eco glampsite with no access for motor vehicles. Parking is available in a nearby offsite location and trolleys/wheelbarrows are available to help you settle in and pack up. With advance notice, the managers can usually arrange lifts to and from Salthouse train station (approximately two miles away) for a small extra charge. For days out, boating canoeing are close by at Salhouse Broad, and the nearest beach is a half-hour drive away. It's also a great area for cycling, so bring your own bikes or hire them locally. There are several nature walks you can follow from the property (as you might expect from a spot in a national park), and a number of nature reserves to stroll around locally too. Alternatively, you just might like to wander to one of the three pubs within walking distance…

Bluebell bell tent (medium)

Liked: The site was relaxed and I can see it’s potential. Obviously a heat wave hasn’t helped with the wildflowers but this is not the owners fault and those that were there were very pretty. Beautiful skies at night and the star gazing was amazing. The tent was clean but felt slightly damp. Rodney the dog and a few short conversations was the most interaction we had with the owner 💚

Disliked: The driveway/parking situation is bad. On our second day a lady arrived on her own with a 9 and 3 yr old. She managed to get her van stuck on the drive in the gravel. We had to use planks of wood we found in the campsite to help get her out along with digging with our hands. No one else came to our/her assistance. I know the owner was away for the weekend but we were told someone else was looking after the site. I dread to think what would have happened if we hadn’t been around to help in this situation. The shower situation wasn’t ideal but I appreciate the fact that builders let the owners down. Fire safety/unable to have a camp fire… Nothing was mentioned about the bbq area to us it was just roped off, would have been good to be advised we couldn’t use it. Also the free wood for camp fires was never addressed either but again the land is so dry it would have been dangerous to have a fire so this should have been advised. Broken ladder on the trampoline for the kids needs fixing, especially for smaller children. Compost toilets were fine and we are used to these except the toilet seats are huge for small children and by the Saturday morning when we were leaving someone had bust the lid off of one of them. Would potentially stay again and recommend but only to friends who can deal with basic sites.

From the manager: Hello, and thank you for your constructive review. Firstly, apologies for the lack of advice about fires. In looking at the comms history, your info email was sent before the fire ban was imposed, so you slipped through the loop. We will ensure that doesn't happen again. Secondly, the parking situation is not great. We are constantly trying to obtain more space close by, and hope this will be rectified by next season. We have also applying some treatment to the gravel so that it is not so slippery. Thirdly, we will be implementing the following as a result of your review: - a child's insert loo seat in one of the compost loos - fixing the ladder on the trampoline - making it clear that the site is self-check in and you may not see the owner at all (however, our numbers are available if you need anything). Thanks again, WFG

Bluebell bell tent (medium)

Liked: We loved how quiet and relaxing the site was. It was also the idea site for me to propose to my future husband!

Disliked: Although we knew it was compositable toilets you still aren't prepared for how basic it is.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your review. We'd love to know the full story of your proposal! And we will shortly be installing flushing loos, so do come again. WFG

Daisy bell tent (large)

Liked: We had a fantastic time at Wildflower Glamping. Our host Kerry was super helpful and the site itself is in a secluded area right next to a field which really helps the relax and unwind. The furnished bell tent made us feel like being part of a fairy tale. That said, within minutes you can get to the Salhouse broads where we enjoyed a few hours of canoeing and getting up close to seals at Horsey gap, was a total winner. You got everything you need on site. Top marks, very much recommended.

From the manager: Thanks so much for review Tim. Loved having you, and hope to see you next year! WFG
