  • Spectacular views among woodland and Broads walks
  • Canoes and kayaks available to hire
  • Three local pubs within a 20-minute walk
As you might guess from the name, Salhouse Broad's Camping Corner is a place where it’s simple to get out and about on and around the water; this pretty place is part of the Broads, the rural waterways of Norfolk and Suffok that’s a top spot for boating of all sorts. And it’s simple indeed to get out on the water from this scenic site, as it sits right by the water and guests can hire canoes and kayaks to paddle along at their own pace to nearby Wroxham or Horning. That means you can base yourself at Salhouse to explore the Broads by foot, bike or canoe, all among lush views, woodland and broadside walks with a variety of species to see for the nature spotters. Salhouse and Woodbastwick villages are within strolling distance at about 10 minutes each and there’s loads more to see and do within driving or public transport distance: Norwich, Wroxham and Horning are all close by and the local bus stop (with services to all three) is 10 minutes’ walk away. The bus service between Salhouse and Norwich or Wroxham operates every hour and the train service stops every two hours. Salhouse Broad's Camping Corner is a friendly, laidback and basic site for tents only, with pitches in a corner of a field close to a broad. The site has a standpipe for drinking water, portable toilets within the main camping area for guests to use; please note that there are no showers or hot water. The pitching area is car-free and is next to the car park. Three pubs are within 20 minutes' walk, in either Salhouse or Woodbastwick.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked: It's a nice and quiet campsite. Very basic. Portable toilets vere clean enough. Fire pits available for use. Very close to the Broad and you can launch for free if you are staying at the campsite.

Disliked: Lack of any kind of sink to clean anything or even brush teeth.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks Poitr, we are a basic campsite and we're glad the positives outweighed the negatives for you. We hope to see you again soon!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very natural and peaceful. Like wild camping - which is what we wanted - but with a loo, drinking water and peace of mind. Very lovely location just yards from the Broad. Easygoing site manager.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful location just metres from the broad. Very friendly ranger on duty. Hired a canoe next morning for a paddle round (discount for using public transport). Facilities are limited (no showers) but the location makes up for it.

From the manager: Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and paddle.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked: Beautiful picturesque location adjacent to Salhouse broad. Great for wildlife observation. Adequate portable toilets which are kept clean.

Disliked: Close proximity to footpath making it a bit noisy at times. Also there is a locked gate at the site entrance with a code for access for campers, but there’s a gate at the bottom for anyone to enter from the public footpath, so the security measures were a bit pointless. Having no vehicle access to the site makes it a bit difficult if you have a lot of gear to carry across from the car park to your pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to review us. I know it seems strange to have only one locked gate; from experience the locked gate is where members of the public try to get access, however, we take note of your feedback. We also note your comment about carrying your gear across the campsite. We're glad you enjoyed your stay regardless and would come again.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The proximity to Salhouse Broad. The pitches were reasonably level. The ranger Bill was very helpful and friendly. I liked the way the site was well off the road and protected by a lock on the access gate. Toilets clean, grass a good length and plenty of bins. The close proximity of the Hungry Otter van very handy for snacks and coffee. What more could you want?
