  • Luxury glamping in rural Norfolk
  • Half an hour's drive from Norwich and the Norfolk coast
  • Private shower room and undercover dining and kitchen in each unit

You'll want to keep this site firmly under wraps…. Keepers Meadow is a cosy and luxury glamping retreat in a remote and secluded part of Norfolk, hidden away enough for proper peace but only half an hour from both Norwich and the Norfolk coast.

Accommodation at this swish site is in bell tents, set just off the banks of the River Bure. Each is colourfully and immaculately kitted out to hotel standards and includes lighting, crockery, rugs, duvets, pillows and outdoor furniture. A well-equipped and spotless shower room, kitchenette and dining area for each tent are a short walk away for exclusive use.

Keepers Meadow's peaceful location is off the main tourist track and is well placed for a topping selection of country walks, canoe trails and cycle routes: the owners can arrange bike and canoe hire if needed, as well as river fishing, all within minutes' walk. The nine-gauge Bure Valley Railway is a 10-minute walk away.

Please note

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

Facilities/activities including canoe hire, cycle hire and fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Best site I've ever been to. 13/08/2017

The owners have thought of everything and provided it to make your stay very comfortable. You only need to take your clothes a waterproof and a pair of wellies incase of wet weather.
Having your own shower room with an airer whilst camping is so luxurious.
The kitchen has everything needed, there is even a microwave in the washing up area.
    All facilities spotlessly clean.
We unfortunately had lots of rain but having the wood burner made the stay warm and cosy. The owners even come and lay the fire and light it for you if needed. If you have good weather you could just enjoy the campsite and do lots of walk in the surrounding countryside. Children will love the woods and all the space to run around.

    Disliked:

Long way from main roads, down a farm track.

Liked the intimacy of the site, in a great location ... 07/08/2017

Liked the intimacy of the site, in a great location near to River Bure, where we could go canoeing. Also good access to many other attractions around the area. Great hosts who went out of their way to make sure everything was as expected. Very clean, high standard accommodation especially considering it is basically a campsite.

    Disliked:

The mattresses on the bunk beds are a bit thin particularly for larger, older children.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review Linda. Great to have you enjoying some of our local history and places of natural beauty.. wish we had been a bit more knowledgeable..
Wish you had mentioned the mattresses whilst you were here.. we are in the process of replacing them as we suspect they are leaking air.
Would love to see you all again some time.

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night break at Keepers Meadow...what an absolutely amazing find! Even before we had left home we were sent a friendly email containing a useful map and full details of the equipment included within the kitchenette. We were extremely impressed by this...and the long list of everything provided.
On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the owners, Michelle and Gary, and were delighted to see our beautiful bell tent - one of just three. Michelle provided us with a tour of our tent, kitchenette and bathroom, as well as of the communal washing up area and shared with us our welcome booklet with plenty of additional information about the site and surrounding areas. The facilities were immaculate...you would think nobody had used them before you. Extremely careful consideration has been given to make this a perfect break. Inside our tent the fairy lights provided a wonderful ambience in the evenings and the bedding was beautiful - it was just so cosy that there was no need for us to light the wood burner, but we can imagine it would be very welcomed if you were chilly. The kitchenette and adjoining dining area provided everything we needed to prepare our family meals and the BBQ, with complimentary charcoal was a generous touch. The private bathroom ensured that everything we loathe about standard camping was truly taken care of. The wash basin, shower cubible and toilet were absolutely spotless... for us glamping is definitely the only way in the future! We visited Wroxham by walking to the next village and taking the tourist steam train...however we really couldn't wait to get back to the site and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We were extremely fortunate to share our experience with two other lovely families in the neighbouring tents and our daughter made new friends and really didn't want to leave. From sitting around the fire pit with hot chocolate in the evening playing games, to exploring the adjacent woodland for both daytime...and spooky walks...we had the most perfect break with a group of lovely people in beautiful surroundings. Michelle and Gary have created something extremely special at Keepers Meadow and we would most certainly love to return...although we believe an early booking is going to be advisable as this glamping site will, we are sure, continue to be exceptionally popular! This really is a beautiful place to stay. Tents are fantastic and homely. The kitchenette has everything you will need. As well as the normal kitchen items there are some camping chairs to relax in the evenings.
we enjoyed sitting by the camp fire toasting marshmallows.
As there is a barbeque there is no need to go out for evening meals.
Here you get your own kitchen and bathroom. Communal washing up area.....gives you a chance to talk to fellow glampers.
Surrounding areas are beautiful. At night you can hear dear and birds....not traffic.
Plenty of places nearby to visit, we went seal watching as we have an older child, but people with younger children went to bewilderwood.
It feels remote......but places to visit really are not that far away.
The owners have done a grand job here, and we wish them well with their venture.

    Disliked:

    Having to leave. :(

From the manager...

It's great to hear that guests have enjoyed the wildlife and socialising with their fellow glampers! We'd love to see you all again soon- as you say, there's plenty more places to explore nearby.

Local attractions

Keepers Meadow's peaceful setting has it well placed for days out of all description, whether you want to leave the car behind or drive a short distance to city or coast. Many public footpaths and cycle paths are accessible straight from the site; hire a bike from the owners if you haven't brought your own two wheels.

The nearby River Bure is an excellent spot for angling; for more, a fishery with access to over three miles of banks is nearby at Oxnead.

For a scenic puff through the Norfolk countryside, Norfolk's longest narrow gauge heritage railway the Bure Valley Railway is a ten-minute walk from the site at Buxton station. It runs through nine miles of Broads countryside via 17 bridges between Aylsham and Wroxham.

Norwich city centre is 30 minutes by car and the Norfolk coast is within 25 minutes.
