  • Well-appointed nine-acre site in the north Norfolk countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to the coast at Cromer; half an hour to the Broads
  • Fishing lake, woodland walks, goat enclosure and e-bike hire
Keen to make the most of everything north Norfolk has to offer on your holiday? Deer's Glade Caravan and Camping Park makes an excellent base for a break – this family-friendly spot is in a strategic location surrounded by woodland but about 10 minutes’ drive from both Aylsham and the coast at Cromer. That setting means you’ll be able to head straight out into the woods (and onto public footpaths beyond) for a peaceful walk whenever you like, but you’ll also be in a great position for getting out and about – to the beach, to the Broads National Park or to one of the area’s many attractions, be it a stately home, a steam railway or a family park. It’s not all about heading out though, as there are nine acres of land to explore right there on site, with the chance to spot deer in the woodland if you’re quiet (and a little bit lucky…). Guests are welcome to fish at the site’s lake, and there’s also a play area and a goat enclosure to keep younger family members amused. The site also has lots of handy facilities including a shop, a wifi service, a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with toilets and showers (including wheelchair-accessible facilities). You can also hire e-bikes here for easy jaunts around the surrounding area – and perhaps to one of the lovely local pubs?

What customers say

This well-maintained, clean, and spacious campsite is praised for its friendly staff, excellent facilities (including showers often described as hotel-quality), and a well-stocked shop. Pitches are generally large and offer privacy. The location is convenient for coastal exploration. Some guests noted issues with limited shower/toilet capacity during peak times and occasional WiFi connectivity problems. A robot lawnmower incident was reported but apologised for by management.

Electric grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked - The pitch (23) was private
- Lovely shop
- staff very welcoming
- beautiful setting

Disliked - the wash ups were very small. 2 x showers, 4 x basins (two private), a few loos on our side. Found it hard to have a shower.

- washing up area…2 men brushing their teeth in there and spitting into the sinks. Didn’t wash the sinks after. (Doing this probably as the amenity block so small)

- very noisy as big groups holidaying together

- very expensive at £112 for two nights. Camped a lot, never paid this much.

Electric grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked Really well maintained. Toilets and showers were always clean. Park in very good condition. Well stocked shop and had the added extra of the vendors a few of the nights. Liked the hedge rows around the electric plots as was a nice bit of extra privacy.

Disliked WiFi intermittent but still nice to have.

Liked Safe, well looked after, great shop, lovely helpful staff.

Disliked The dog feaces. Unfortunately there were occurrences of dogs fouling and this did cause a unpleasant smell.

The showers next to the chemical disposal was also interesting.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, we really appreciate it. Unfortunately, not all dog owners are as considerate as yourself. However, I do not feel this is a big problem here as there are several dog bins and our staff are regularly walking around to ensire a clean and tidy campsite. As for the chemical waste, they are both situated a good distance away from the shower area. I hope this helps. Your points have been noted though and will be dicussed in our next monthly meeting. Thanks

Electric grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked Spacious pitch, great location, helpful staff, well stocked shop, good food vendors.

Disliked Showers and toilets were dirty and overused. Site was full but this should warrant additional cleaning. Another toilet and shower block is needed.

Electric grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked Lovely site, well managed and maintained. Large pitches. Friendly staff.

Disliked Fishing lake was disappointing.
It was rumoured that Otters had got in and eaten most of the fish, we spent 4 days fishing and not one fish was caught between the two of us.
Most others fishing said the same.
If the site knew this and I'm sure they did then why charge full price for fishing.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, we really appreciate it. Your improvement points have been noted and will be reviewed at our monthly meeting, however what I can say is that over the holidays we have seen and heard of many fish being caught.... the feedback is that they like red and pink bait. For future knowledge, we have already started the process of increasing stock, so this should be ready in the coming months. Thank you

Liked Privacy of pods

Disliked Small pod parking area and we didn’t manage to get parked there some days.

Electric grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked Spacious pitch, decent shop, onsite food stalls, location was central for exploring

Disliked Lack of facilities in the toilets, only 2 showers in both ladies and gents, for the size of the campsite need more. Quite a few times saw people queueing for them. Mens toilets only has 2 cubicle toilets and found men queueing to use them. One of the mens toilets had an issuexwith the flusher and again reported it to reception but didnt seem interested.

Lack of wifi on the site. Struggled to connect. Reported it to the reception but didnt seem interested.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked Fab place to bring the children, the sweet goats and super playground are a real draw. The park is well maintained. We booked it pretty much last minute. We were on a deluxe pitch, large spaces well defined. Free wi-fi from your hook up post included. Visiting food vans and a well stocked shop were most appreciated. Easy to drive to Cromer - not too far away at all!

Disliked Not a fault of the site at all but we found it just a little noisy with big families who were enjoying their summer holidays. To be fair they were quiet by 11pm which the site insists on. Just not been on such a busy site before. Going into the toilet block, frequently found unflushed toilets, paper on the floor (I suspect children left them in that state) Would probably enjoy going out of school holiday season.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, we really appreciate it. We do also have an adult only site just down he road called Deer's Mead, so perhaps this could be worth considering. Thank you

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch (deluxe)

Liked Short drive to Cromer which was beautiful, site was clean and tidy, toilets and showers clean and never busy. Site shop was handy and the employees were really friendly and helpful.

Disliked We were pitched right next to the road and path close to the shower block so was quite noisy with the amount of footfall passing out pitch.

Local attractions

It’s the coast that draws many visitors to north Norfolk – and you’ll be in a good position here to see plenty of its hotspots. Perhaps start in Cromer (10 minutes’ drive) for the beach and a bit of crabbing from the pier, have a quiet trip to Mundesley beach (20 minutes) or go seal-spotting from Blakeney (35 minutes). The Broads National Park is another popular spot, and it will take you about half an hour to get there for scenic walks and boat trips. If you’ve brought the kids, you may like to look at outings like BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) and ROARR! dinosaur park (35 minutes) – or perhaps a ride on either the Bure Valley Railway (10 minutes) or North Norfolk Railway (20 minutes). Those of you on more grownup breaks may instead like to turn your attention to the National Trust sites at Blickling Estate (10 minutes) and Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate (15 minutes), or perhaps the royals’ favourite Sandringham Estate (an hour). Walks on Marriott's Way (10 minutes) and Weavers Way (20 minutes) are also options, as is a stroll around the historic centre of Norwich (35 minutes).
