  • Family-friendly campsite on a working Snettisham farm in North Norfolk
  • Sandringham Estate 10 minutes’ drive and Holme Beach 15 minutes
  • Farm park and dog paddock on site; village pub 10 minutes’ walk
Set on a traditional family-run farm in rural Norfolk, Snettisham Meadows is on the outskirts of the pretty village of Snettisham and 15 minutes’ drive from North Sea beaches in the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. Animal-mad campers, form an orderly queue please, as this 329-acre farm has several attractions up its sleeve for you, including meet-and-greets with pigs, pony rides, lamb feeding in spring and deer safaris. There’s also a dog paddock for rent so your four-legged companions can have a gallop around, and an area on the camping field is reserved for guests with dogs. Facilities include a toilet and shower block (with no hot water on weekdays between November and February, excluding the Christmas and New Year period), washing-up sinks with cold water, a small shop at reception for essential supplies and tourist information, USB phone charging and a freezer for ice packs. Campfires and barbecues are permitted, and you can borrow firepits and buy logs for kindling from the site owners. After a fun-filled day exploring this lovely part of Norfolk, come back to your pitch and keep your fingers crossed for clear skies and some serious stargazing. The site is only 10 minutes’ walk from a popular village pub, where you are guaranteed a warm welcome should you fancy a spot of lunch or an evening pint.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely relaxed atmosphere with like minded campers. Silent past 10pm. We have stayed twice now, pitches 12 and 8, both huge pitches with plenty of room for tents and car. Every time we stay here I always regret not staying longer. Toilets, showers and pot wash are kept clean, very hot water and great shower pressure.

Snettisham has a lovely cafe and play park, Sandringham is a short drive away with fab forest school held during the holidays, Hunstanton is close enough to pop to for post bbq ice cream on the sea front. We visited wells-next-to-sea which has a stunning beach.

Snettisham meadows is located in the middle of all our favourite attractions so suits us perfectly.

Disliked There are only four showers, when it’s busy we had to wait but it didn’t phase us much, my boys ran off to play in the park until it was our turn!

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Location, great for exploring nearby areas.
Setback and felt remote, but convenient with nearby shops, park etc.
The farm and hearing the animals. After buying a pass to the farm, could visit again any time during camping trip.

Disliked The number of available showers/toilets etc is not enough for it the campsite is full. It is fine if not full

Liked Toilets, seeing the farm, space.

Disliked Being parked right behind the horse stable plot1 meant our camper was plagued by flies. Noise from a tractor reversing sensor at 5:30 am.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Space, good clean facilities, quiet, easy check in

Disliked Ants!
Overflowing rubbish bins - perhaps better signage to direct people to the bins right next to the overflowing bins that they can use instead of piling the bags up by the side

Local attractions

If you can drag your youngsters away from the animals on site, they can have a runaround on the climbing frames and soft-play equipment at Farmer Fred’s Adventure Play Barn (five minutes’ drive). Sea Life Hunstanton (10 minutes) is the place for encounters with seals and turtles, while there are dinosaur trails to follow at ROARR! theme park (50 minutes). When it’s time for a day at the seaside, you have several options including Brancaster Beach (20 minutes) for bracing strolls along the dunes to the remains of Branodunum Roman Fort. Backed by rainbow-coloured beach huts, Wells-Next-the-Sea (half an hour) has opportunities for birdwatching, crabbing and paddling in the shallows, and Holme Beach (15 minutes) is a secluded sandy expanse known for its great sunset views. Add a bit of culture into the holiday entertainment with a guided tour of the royal apartments at Sandringham Estate (10 minutes), where you can also walk your canine chums in acres of groomed parkland. Holkham Hall (35 minutes) is another fine mansion with lavishly OTT interiors and formal water gardens, while ornate Blickling Hall (50 minutes) is known for its Jacobean architecture and a priceless book collection in the Long Gallery Library.
