  • Family-friendly campsite on a working Snettisham farm in North Norfolk
  • Sandringham Estate 10 minutes’ drive and Holme Beach 15 minutes
  • Farm park and dog paddock on site; village pub 10 minutes’ walk
Set on a traditional family-run farm in rural Norfolk, Snettisham Meadows is on the outskirts of the pretty village of Snettisham and 15 minutes’ drive from North Sea beaches in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Animal-mad campers, form an orderly queue please, as this 329-acre farm has several attractions up its sleeve for you, including meet-and-greets with pigs, pony rides, lamb feeding in spring and deer safaris. There’s also a dog paddock for rent so your four-legged companions can have a frisk around, and an area on the camping field is reserved for guests with dogs. Facilities include showers (with cold water only in February), washing-up sinks with cold water, a small shop at reception for essential supplies and tourist information, USB phone charging and a freezer for ice packs. Campfires and barbecues are permitted, and you can borrow firepits and buy logs for kindling from the site owners. After a fun-filled day exploring this lovely part of Norfolk, come back to your pitch and keep your fingers crossed for clear skies and some serious stargazing. The site is only 10 minutes’ walk from a popular village pub, where you are guaranteed a warm welcome should you fancy a spot of lunch or an evening pint.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Plenty of space. Really quiet location. New toilet and shower block. Simple and easy check in.

Disliked: Only comment is that the first "reception" you arrive at is for the Farm, some clearer signs to follow for the campsite check-in would be useful.

Barley 1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: Beautiful views, quiet, lovely facilities and great service! Also amazing location in nature but walking distance to Snettisham village for Rose and Crown Pub when you’re too tired to cook

Disliked: Having to go back home 😬 Ok the Wi-Fi does pop in and out, but still pretty good considering it’s a camping site

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Clean, modern facilities. Good location with plenty of facilities in the village (pubs, shop). Very quiet. Ample space.

Disliked: Farmer next door had a go at our 10yo daughter for “trespassing”, which was a bit much to say to a 10yo. As we drove in, we noticed a play area heaving with kids playing. We encouraged our child to go and play whilst we set up. Next thing you know, I could hear a man talking sternly to our daughter. It turns out the play area is nothing to do with the campsite. Our consciousness daughter came back in tears and a bit shock up. Our fault when all said and done but a tad over the top from the farmer.

Liked: Location, clean facilities. Family friendly. Farm was a great attraction for the kids.

Disliked: Taps in the toilet - both taps splash everywhere and the hot is molten after just a few seconds. Temperamental WiFi.

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Lovely views across the fields, nice level pitches, well maintained facilities, hot showers. Well looked after site.

Disliked: Was disappointed that no park was on the actual campsite for the children. Very open to the elements. We went on a very windy weekend & there is no natural wind breaks make sure to take one.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: This is honestly such an amazing site, the toilets are good and the showers are perfect. It was nice that we got to choose our own pitch and left to our own devices. Also the fridge/freezer and charging station are a nice bonus. Plus the lady running it is really nice

Local attractions

If you can drag your youngsters away from the animals on site, they can have a runaround on the climbing frames and soft-play equipment at Farmer Fred’s Adventure Play Barn (five minutes’ drive). SEA LIFE Hunstanton (10 minutes) is the place for encounters with seals and turtles, while there are dinosaur trails to follow at ROARR! theme park (50 minutes). When it’s time for a day at the seaside, you have several options including Brancaster Beach (20 minutes) for bracing strolls along the dunes to the remains of Branodunum Roman Fort. Backed by rainbow-coloured beach huts, Wells-Next-the-Sea (half an hour) has opportunities for birdwatching, crabbing and paddling in the shallows, and Holme Beach (15 minutes) is a secluded sandy expanse known for its great sunset views. Add a bit of culture into the holiday entertainment with a guided tour of the royal apartments at Sandringham Estate (10 minutes), where you can also walk your canine chums in acres of groomed parkland. Holkham Hall (35 minutes) is another fine mansion with lavishly OTT interiors and formal water gardens, while ornate Blickling Hall (50 minutes) is known for its Jacobean architecture and a priceless book collection in the Long Gallery Library.
