General

  • Peaceful rural site attached to a 19th-century inn
  • Half an hour's drive from Cromer beach and several nature reserves
  • Within 50 minutes of BeWILDerwood theme park and Thetford Forest Park

Is there anything better than a spacious, flower-filled meadow in a quiet Norfolk village, surrounded by forests, nature reserves and beaches? Yes.. a spacious flower-filled meadow in a quiet etc etc… at the back of a pub. Particularly when the pub in question is The Green Man Inn, a 19th-century roadside lodge, just outside the village of Little Snoring, with a big log fire, a shady beer garden and a restaurant serving fresh and homemade food.

Around the area, it's not that quiet in Little Snoring (despite the obvious jokes...). Take a five-minute car trip to the Thursford Collection, where the Wurlitzer organs, steam engines and restored fairground rides make a fine old racket, and very prettily tpo. Further afield, take your little pterodactyl hunters to ROARR! Dinosaur Adventure Park, 20 minutes away, for wanders through a far from sleepy landscape of animated monsters.

And in between your Norfolk adventures? With a long history of being hospitable to travellers, the team at The Green Man Inn make everyone welcome, and that includes both dogs and children, on site and in the pub. Ask nicely and give a bit of notice, and the kindly kitchen staff will knock you up a picnic for your day’s adventures too.

Facilities are simple and clean, and with an extra dash of decency, the washrooms are heated… handy on a bracing Norfolk morning....

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

This is only a small site but is clean and the toilets and wash facilities are good. Pub with reasonable food and some entertainment weekly is on site. This is on a main road so some heavy traffic noise at times but quite rural. Handy for coastal and North Norfolk area visits. Good stopover site but not what I would consider a holiday site.

Lovely little site - twelve pitches and new clean facilites - everything there. Colin and Tracy in the pub were very welcoming - and, as my wife has various things she can't eat, extremely creative and adaptive in making her a great evening meal. Planned to stay one night but welcome so good we stayed two. It is alo ideally placed for days out anywhere on N Norfolk coast. Dogs very welcome too!

Lovely kept campsite. Good small ish site (as in not many pitches) but the pitch sizes were large and plenty of room for our big tent and estate Car. Facilities were clean and there are radiators in the shower room and the toilets which meant it wasn’t too cold despite the chilly rainy weather.

    Disliked:

The road is noisy, but I knew it would be when booking - this is just a note for light sleepers.

The only improvement I’d say they could make is providing a fridge for guests in tents but we did manage without on our short trip

Basic site with not very clean facilities for the price you are paying 20/09/2018

I can’t say there was anything I liked, best I can come up with is that it was just about OK

    Disliked:

The toilets and showers are extremely BASIC and NOT clean. The food was ok, but overpriced (Pub quality but restaurant prices). It is overpriced (in my opinion) - You are paying same price as other “more permanent” sites with much better facilities. WiFi was rarely usable (unless you were sat in pub (and even then it was erratic).

Very friendly welcome on arrival and large spacious flat pitches. Good toilet, shower facilities which were very clean. We liked the idea of being able to take our dogs into the pub bar. Live band Random ID were playing on the Saturday night and were very good. Although the pub is located on a main A148 you didnt notice any noise from the traffic. We had a nice meal in the pub and can recommend the lemon and berry sponge and custard, it was delish! This is an ideal location for visiting Cromer and places of interest in land. We were there when it was Holts 1940's weekend and it was great to drive through and watch, not our sort of music but the town was buzzing.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike but would have liked more on the menu that didnt include chips. I prefer meals with lots of vegetables or rice, although I did enjoy the chips!

Local attractions

Fancy some time travel? Head over to Holt (15 minutes’ drive) for heritage steam rides on the Mid-Norfolk Railway, poke around the stately homes of Holkham Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Sandringham, all around half an hour away, or connect with your inner cave man at the flint mines of Grimes Graves (50 minutes).

Half an hour away, Cromer has all the right ingredients for the traditional seaside day, from beach, pier and fish and chips to lighthouse and clifftop walks. Great Yarmouth (an hour) has all this too, plus fairgrounds and fishy friends of all sizes in the Sea Life aquarium, and easy access to the cycle paths and waterways of the Norfolk Broads inland.

Birdwatchers and walkers flock to this part of the world, as the cliffs, dunes, salt marshes and wetlands make for grand vistas and city-sized gatherings of avian life. The National Nature Reserves of Blakeney, Holkham, Titchwell and Holme are all about half an hour off, as is Morston Quay if you’re after a boat trip out to see the seal colony.

If you’re more of an inland woodland wanderer, beetle over to the unbeatable BeWILDerwood (45 minutes) for a leafy combo of high ropes, zipwires, jungle bridges and fantasy themed boat trips. Or forge a path through Thetford Forest Park (50 minutes), mixing sedate cycling with more challenging mountain bike trails, pony treks and adventure playgrounds.

  • Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham (3.4 miles)
