  • Adults-only site on three acres of grass with views over the Fens
  • Fishing rivers within a mile; Sandringham Estate half an hour’s drive
  • Walk to the village pub, shop and outdoor gym; dogs welcome on site
Ready for a proper little rural getaway in the Cambridgeshire countryside? Down a quiet single-track road in the village of Tydd St Mary is Greendyke Farm, a family-run site with three acres of open grassland pitches looking over the Fenland landscape (and often a stunning sunset or sunrise too). This is an adults-only site, but dogs are welcome and you should find plenty of places to take them out for a walk, whether that’s around the field (on a lead) or in the surrounding area. This quiet location is within easy reach of footpaths, fishing rivers (within a mile of the site) and riverside walks leading to nearby villages. It’s also on the National Cycle Route network, and there are local buses from the village. In the village, less than a 15-minute walk away, grab essentials from the local shop, duck into the local pub for a meal or work up an appetite at the village playing field, which has outdoor gym equipment for a proper workout. The larger local town, Long Sutton, is 10 minutes’ drive away and has a pub, a larger shop and takeaways, some of which offer a delivery service. There are supermarkets in Wisbech (15 minutes’ drive) and several farm shops or butchers for barbecue supplies within 20 minutes’ drive of the site. And the facilities on site? Simple but meticulously clean… there are outdoor toilet and shower facilities and a firepit is available upon request. The large pitches have more than enough room for an awning, gazebo, barbecue, outdoor chairs and the like. Days out? Sandringham Estate is only half an hour’s drive away, or you can hit the Norfolk coast in the seaside town of Hunstanton, 45 minutes’ drive away.

What customers say

Visitors praise this peaceful campsite for its beautiful surroundings, flat pitches, and friendly, helpful owners. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are consistently described as clean and well-maintained. The location offers convenient access to local amenities and pubs. While generally well-received, some guests noted that the single toilet and shower could lead to queues during busy periods, and there were occasional comments about the basic nature of some facilities. The site is recommended for a relaxing break.

Buttercup non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I just spent the weekend for my first solo camping trip with my dog here. I couldn’t recommend enough, it’s so peaceful with beautiful views of fields and sunsets! The toilet/shower/washing area is great, especially having a proper toilet with a sink and it’s nice having the car next to you! The were only a couple other campers so was nice and private. Definitely will be returning!

Disliked Shower can be a bit awkward all your stuff gets splashed that are hanging on the hooks if the shower head was a smaller one or like a one that you can detach to wash yourself it would be so much easier!

Liked A beautiful peaceful location. We only stayed for one night on this instance as we were passing through to our final destination. Tom the host gave us a great welcome and was extremely helpful. The site is very level with short grass. Basic facilities but immaculate. We will visit again.

Liked Very quiet and spacious. Lots of space to choose our pitch, looking onto fields, so we watched the hares playing in the sun with a morning cuppa and the bats flying over as the sun set

Disliked Often ran out of toilet paper in the 1 toilet and the 1 bin often over flowing

From the manager: thank you for booking with us . pleased to hear you enjoyed your break . look forward to seeing you again sometime

sorry to hear that you must of been the unlucky one regarding loo roll as i kept an eye on that.
and regarding the bin yes it did over flow once . but it wasn't bad because the magpies hadn't even beating me there before to removed the bags 👍

Local attractions

Take advantage of a child-free break to try a couple of more mature activities – perhaps a round at Tydd St Giles Golf Course (five minutes’ drive) or clay pigeon shooting with The Big Shoot (10 minutes). You may also like to learn a bit of local history at Wisbech & Fenland Museum or Octavia Hill’s Birthplace House (both 15 minutes). National Trust members? Take your card to Peckover House and Garden (15 minutes) or Oxburgh Estate (45 minutes) – both excellent places to explore whether or not you’re a member. 12th-century Castle Rising (half an hour) is another option, or a stroll around King’s Lynn (25 minutes), especially if you catch one of the Tuesday or Saturday markets. A day at the coast is always an option, too – the beaches of Hunstanton and Heacham are both about 45 minutes away, with long sandy stretches and the claim to fame of being the only west-facing beaches on the east coast.
