The Marlbank Inn: Camping field

General

  • Traditional and welcoming pub site at the foot of the Malvern Hills
  • Three miles from the Three Counties Showground
  • Dogs welcome on site and in the pub; menu of Indian street food

It's just as well for one's waistline that the Malverns have some of the best hiking and ramble routes in the land – for there's a tasty menu of North Indian cuisine to get through at The Marlbank Inn.

And it's just as well that said walks are simple to access too, as you might be a tad full after sampling said menu: the inn and its campsite are at the foot of the Malvern Hills within easy reach of scenic and slimming walks. The Marlbank Inn is in rural Worcestershire, close to geocaching and treasure trails, fishing and bike rides, and Worcestershire Golf Club for gentle teeing off. Events and shows are easily sorted from here too, as the Three Counties Showground is within three miles.

The Marlbank is a traditional and welcoming country pub, with a sheltered camping field well placed for handsome views over the hills. Family attractions like Ice Quest Malvern and a leisure centre with pool are within 15 minutes' drive.

Facilities include toilets and showers, drinking water, an undercover washing-up area and disabled facilities, along with chemical disposal and ice pack freezing. Dogs are welcome on site and in the pub.

Please note

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The restaurant is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Children under the age of 10 are not allowed in the bar area unless dining with an adult.

The restaurant (and kitchen) is open 5pm - 9pm Wednesday to Sunday. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

The bar is open 4pm - 10pm Tuesday to Thursday, 4pm - 11pm Friday to Sunday. It is closed on Monday.

It is highly recommended that you book a table in advance due to limited availability.

The staff at the Marlbank Inn were all lovely and charming, the food was delicious and well priced. The campsite toilets and showers were clean and well kept.

    Disliked:

The pitch (5) was in a poor state, high clods of earth etc,and deep ruts between the concrete hardstanding..we had to make sure both wheels were carefully driven onto the concrete strips to avoid damage to our van.The entrance looked unwelcoming and run down,a complete contrast to the stylish Marlbank Inn.We were too close ( maybe 4/5 feet from our " neighbours, plus we had two completely selfish imbeciles who had decided that we would want to listen to some cruddy local radio station at full blast ,whilst they sat back and slurped their cans of Carslburg xtra whilst chugging on Golden Virginia..My 10 year old son was just 5 feet away..I kept glaring over, but I don't think anything would have been done. The area was beautiful,I think sadly the pitches are far too close, and quite a few of the people there, without a few rules or checks don't give a damn about others. We left after we had eaten.

Large pitches with easy access and next to a quiet …14/05/2022

  • Liked:

Large pitches with easy access and next to a quiet road. The power supply was for the standard 16Amp blue plugs and a water supply nearby and close enough to run a hose pipe to the Motorhome. Grey waste needed to be transferred in a container and the chemical toilet waste area was under cover and clean. Both showers were excellent and the toilet facilities clean.

The restaurant provided a friendly and efficient service and the food was delicious, we ate there on both nights that we stayed. I must warn you, please book a table when you book your pitch, the Restaurant is very popular.

    Disliked:

There was nothing to dislike. I would have liked a facility where the grey waste water tank could be emptied directly from the motorhome, there may have been one, but I didn't spent much time looking and I didn't ask.

Very nice area, friendly staff and facilities good. The food in the pub was Indian and it was very good. The owner makes his own sauces and has appeared on TV as a Chef. A very pleasant stay and very convenient for the Malvern Flower Show.

    Disliked:

Slightly difficult entry from road but a bit easier if you take notice of advice given and approach from the other side! Electric tripped out a number of times after the next bay also plugged in. We were in bay 8.

Local attractions

After all those Malvern Hills hikes (for that really is a mighty fine menu in The Marlbank Inn), set off for indoor and outdoor days around the Malverns and its countryside.

Days out for families include laser questing and ice skating at Ice Quest Malvern; taking the self-guided Spy Mission treasure trail around the hills, and pummelling clay into submission at Green Frog Pottery, 15 minutes' drive away. Kids – and grownups – of a certain sort might also like the Malvern Museum of Local History; if not, Ledbury's 19th-century Eastnor Castle has regular events including family days and sword fighting sessions (foam swords, you may be somewhat relieved to hear). Both museum and castle are 10 minutes' drive away.

For a peaceful day out, drive 25 minutes to the meadow valleys, orchards and woodland of The Knapp and Papermill Nature Reserve, to look out for woodpeckers and nuthatches, dormice and bats (the reserve has 11 of the UK's 15 breeding species). Pick up a free trail leaflet or buy a family trail guide and information booklet at the visitor centre, to head out after another bite to eat in the picnic area.
