  • Well-maintained, peaceful site behind a pub in Long Itchington
  • Warwick Castle and British Motor Museum within 25 minutes' drive
  • Traditional pub with open fire, beer garden and visiting food vans
If you’re a fan of a good pint of proper beer, you may well have come across the name Long Itchington before – this pretty Warwickshire village has no fewer than six pubs selling good-quality real ales, with three of them getting a mention in the Good Beer Guide. One of those pubs is The Green Man, a lovely traditional pub that’s got a large quiet and flat camping field behind it – just the spot for a little rural break with countryside walks by day and a survey of local hostelries by night. The surrounding area is a good one for walkers, who can head out for rambles along a disused railway line, or stroll along the banks of the Grand Union Canal. And there are plenty more options for days out too – perhaps to Warwick Castle, the British Motor Museum or Royal Leamington Spa (which can be reached on a bus from just outside the pub). Wherever you choose to roam, you’ll be coming back to a well-maintained and peaceful site where you’ll have access to pub toilets (but please note there are no showers or electric hookups). And of course you’ll be wanting a drink… which can be consumed inside by the open fire or out in the beer garden in sunnier weather. The pub doesn’t do food, but a fish and chip van (said to be ‘legendary’) stops by on Friday nights at about 8pm and you’re welcome to eat your meal at the pub. Otherwise, see what’s on offer at one of the other locals, or stop by at the small supermarket two minutes’ walk away and pick up supplies to get your barbecue going.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Small site at rear of lovely pub, albeit pub is closed on Mondays and doesn’t serve foot other than weekends. Has two small shower toilet rooms, which are kept clean. I stay most years as a gear shakedown location. This year stayed on a Monday so couldn’t use the pub, but there are other pubs a very short walk away (5 mins) and a local co-op. Monday morning appears to be the keg delivery day for the pub and other than that a peaceful site.

All pitches are very close to facilities due to size of site. We pitched by the small pond with running water pump, which was nice.

Disliked Hot water at dish cleaning station would be a bonus

Liked A very friendly welcome on arrival.
A peaceful small site attached to a lovely cosy looking pub with 2 good clean toilet and showers. We were allowed to pitch up together, the field is lovely and well kept, and so peaceful and quiet.

Disliked Not a dislike. A couple of hooks in showers to hang clothes and coat. Warm water to wash up. Shame the pub didn’t do food except Sundays but plenty of alternatives in the village as informed by owner.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Great little campsite - we were the only ones there for the first night (we extended our stay another night).

Cosy little pub on site and in a beautiful village.

The owners were very friendly and super helpful.

Would recommend!

Disliked No hot water in washing up area, but not the end of the world - we boiled our own water.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely site right in the middle of the village. Five minute walk to the Co-op and within a short walk to six pubs!! The Green Man was very friendly and we had a delicious Sunday lunch. Shower and toilets were clean and the site itself was very quiet. Beautiful walk along the canal nearby. A perfect place for a short getaway.

Disliked Nothing at all to dislike.
