What customers say

This campsite is praised for its exceptionally clean and well-maintained facilities, including toilets, showers, and washing-up areas. Visitors highlight the wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff, who often provide local maps and recommendations. The spacious pitches, with good separation, and the provision of fire pits are popular additions. The site is noted for its good location, particularly for visiting Alton Towers. While some minor points were raised, such as occasional road noise or the availability of certain amenities, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many visitors expressing a desire to return.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The owners are the best! Lorraine always took the time out to talk to us, she learnt our children’s names the first time she met them and then remembered their names and spoke to them every time she saw them. The site is very well kept. The facilities are great, hot water washing up facilities, camp fire hire with wood and kindling, very well thought out toilet and shower block and always clean with fresh flowers, we loved it here and really wish it was closer so we could visit more often.

Disliked This site is faultless. If there was one request it would be for a family room to make it easier to wash the children but it wasn’t impossible with the facilities on site.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The camp site rules were short and fair for all at the site.
The atmosphere across the camp was friendly and an excited buzz with people playing games, fires blazing, smell of food in the air.
Facilities were always clean and there was never became unavailable due to over use.
I received very helpful recommendations on places to visits during my stay.

Local attractions

For those who like to be hurtled about at great speeds and heights, happiness awaits: it’s 10 minutes to the assorted excitements of Alton Towers, and for those who haven't quite graduated to the big league, an array of rides aimed at younger clientele are at Gulliver’s Kingdom, 40 minutes away. For active stuff in the outdoors, make for the Dovedale valley, 20 minutes away for walks and rides through the fab surrounds of the southern Peak District. If you prefer a splash of water with your adventures, wend your way over to Carsington Water (25 minutes) for kayaking, sailing and fishing as well as walks and bike rides round the reservoir. For more urban antics, meanwhile, sidle over to Stoke Skatepark (40 minutes), a mecca for concrete acrobats. Penchant for the past? The Churnet Valley Steam Railway is 10 minutes' drive away, while the fine old stately piles of Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House are within 45 minutes. It's a similar distance to the Crich Tramway Museum and the Heights of Abraham, a Victorian pleasure ground reached by cable car from Matlock Bath, with a fossil museum, caverns and acres of upland parkland. For animal fans, there’s horse trekking from the Beaver Hall equestrian centre, 10 minutes away, and very close by, encounters with lemurs, penguins, wallabies and pygmy goats at the Peak Wildlife Park.
