Canal boats in the marina

  • Peaceful 20-acre marina location in the Staffordshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to Lichfield; 20 minutes to Drayton Manor Theme Park
  • Barbecues and picnic tables provided; short walk to a dog-friendly pub
Whether it’s picnics looking out over the marina or lazy mornings walking along the Coventry Canal, there’s plenty of scope for peaceful activities at Kings Orchard Marina in the middle of the Staffordshire countryside. This is a pretty marina location with 20 acres of space, all landscaped and maintained to a high standard, with a marina basin for views and a canal, narrowboat hire and local pub 10 minutes’ walk away. For any keen explorers, the icing on the cake might be that historic Lichfield is 10 minutes’ drive to the west. That means you can explore the medieval city’s 12th-century cathedral, market square and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum by day before heading back in the evening to use the site’s food prep area to build a barbecue spread on the grills provided. Handily, there's a food shop under five minutes' drive away. The free-to-use barbecues and picnic tables dotted around the site are useful facilities for those quality times. As for features of convenience, Kings Orchard Marina also has toilets, showers, waste disposal and an Elsan unit. With the Staffordshire countryside on all sides, walk to your heart’s content, but don’t forget that real ales, traditional pub fare and a beer garden await at the local dog-friendly country pub alongside the Coventry Canal. This place, 10 minutes’ walk away, is a good spot for those of you who have brought dogs on your holiday.

What customers say

This peaceful marina-side site offers spacious pitches with excellent facilities, including individual water and electric hook-ups. Guests appreciate the convenient canal towpath access for walks to a nearby pub and the friendly, helpful staff. While generally well-maintained, some reviewers note dated toilet and shower facilities. The approach road is consistently described as having significant potholes, though some newer comments suggest recent improvements. WiFi can be inconsistent, and some report noise from nearby transport links.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked Very much enjoyed this stay. It was quiet, although full and everyone respected all other site users.
Pitches are a good size, fully serviced and private.

Disliked Nothing really to dislike tbh.
If I HAD to grumble, it would be regarding the road in and the driveway entrance which is very bumpy with sleeping policeman and potholes but once on site, everything was ok.

Disliked There was noise coming from the pitches further down from ours late at night.. A rendition of Robbie Williams ‘Angels’ was not acceptable at 23:30..

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked The pitches have electric and water. Showers and toilets were clean and functioned well. It served a good purpose for us as a stopover on the way to a campsite much further away.

Disliked Given you are near a beautiful marina, there is no view of this. Although dogs are welcome on site, the layout of the pitches means it's hard to find somewhere level and grassy to put a tie-in stake in the ground you can clip your dog to.
